and some more info about the Rally

Here we are to unveil the stages of the XRally Marrakech that will be officially opened by the French Arnaud Debron, ex rider and famous co-rider, the 13th,14th , 15th and 16th of May to define the eventual modifications of the road book.
The Promoter EdoMossi explains us the tracks that more than 40 riders aboard their bikes and quads will cover around Marrakech to return every afternoon to the luxury hotel 5 stars Kenzi Farah, located in the hearth of the Hivernage, 5 minutes from the old medina.
The track of this first edition of the XRally is a true concept. An innovative idea for a smooth running of this race that takes place close to the Atlas Mountains. During the 1st briefing the riders will know the features of the event, such as the 35km long Prologue and the concept of “selective stages”, as almost all the stages will have 2 or 3 “selective stages”.
Organized with the support of the Northon Club and the Swiss Federation, we would like to offer a formula that combines race with training. We want the riders to enjoy the rally and, at the same time, give them the opportunity to fine tune their riding technique and navigation skills. The stages have been studied to test the riders: a sort of training within the race because the XRally, as well as the Merzouga Rally, remains a true race. A fight against the chronometer, without forgetting the Safety, which remains a priority for us.
The return from the special stage is around 02.00 pm so that the riders can have all the time to “study” and enjoy the positive energy of Marrakech.
Let’s have a closer look at the stages:
1st Day Prologue “Palmeraie” 66,09 km
liaison 15,30 km
Prologue 35,05 km
liaison 15,70 km
2° Day 1st Special Stage “North” 165,55 km
liaison 29,95
Selective Stages 119,15 (19,50 km*)
liaison 26,10 km
3° Day 2° Special Stage ’ “Tahannaout” 197,55 km
liaison 37,80km
Selective Stages 133,65 km (18,75km*)
liaison 26,10 km
4th Day 3rd Special Stage “Agafay” 191,53 km
liaison 31 km
Selective Stages 130,70 km (9 km*)
liaison 29,83 km
TOTAL LENGTH RALLY 620,72 km
TOTAL SELECTIVE STAGES 418,55 km (47,25*)
*= neutralization on the tarmac to link a stage to another.
A STEP FORWARD IN TERMS OF SAFETY
To guarantee the safety of the competitors, every day, 1 hour before the start of the first bike, a predator will “open the track”. Thanks to the cooperation with the company Bugg’Afrique, an American buggy, Predator X18, will cover all the stage of the day for a further check. Bugg’Afrique is based in Marrakech, their core business is the rental of these vehicles that offer great performances for competitions at an affordable price

Great day yesterday at Hockenheimring! It was the first round of the regional championship GP1 (1000cc) and GP2 (600/750cc) races. We lucked out and had a great day with temps in the mid 80's all the way till the end of racing. :D

The biggest challenge was that yesterday was my absolute first day out ever on my new race bike (2008 Yamaha R6). I was lucky to have a good friend who is a mechanic for WSBK teams and IDM to help setup the bike, get everything working and dialed in. After some promising looking qualifying sessions I was already running faster on my R6 then I was last year on my S1000RR :evil

So things were looking really good and by the end of qualifying I had got myself 9th on the grid out of 20 entries (that later dropped to 19 with 1 guy not starting).

The race was pretty awesome, I really had the bike dialed in and being back in the seat of a 600cc bike was finally coming back to me, I forgot how easy/early you can really get on the power and drive hard out of corners :D

Right off the first lap I made three passes which was good enough to give me some clean air and get my head down to gain some ground. In the next 5 laps I fought for two more positions in a pretty exciting way that is best to just watch the video! I managed to grab 4th position with a couple laps remaining which was good enough to pull an easy lead from the pack behind me. Sadly the time spent battling from 6th place to 4th place held me up so long it kept back getting a podium yesterday, but none the less a 4th place was amazing for my first race of the year, and first time riding this bike!

Mad props to all my friends who helped out! :freaky :freaky:freaky
