Got a friend in Germany who will produce a batch of underseat tanks for the HP2. The tank will be plastic (choose your color), hold approx. 8 liters/2gallons and will pump the fuel constantly back into the main tank when it empties. Costs will be around 500 Euros including pump etc. ready to install. If there is interest, I would consider taking the ordeal of organizing shipping etc. Anyone want one?
I would be interested if the USD bought 1.30 EURO. But the USD only buys about .63 EURO, so that is going to be a mighty pricey 2 gallon tub. I'll have to get motivated and make my own. I've been meaning to buy the 20G sheet metal and the low pressure pump. But thanks for arranging fabrication and the group buy. This is the preferred tank set up, IMHO
I'm curious to see the design. Dunno yet if I'd commit to buying... but if the design is slick enough I might buy it anyway.
I would have an interest in it depending on how well it's designed. We've been real successful with the HPN 6 gallon tanks, but some folks would like an alternative. The underseat tank IMHO should work with both stock and aftermarket shocks/resevoirs and should have enough clearance if an 18" tire/wheel is mounted up.
SURE ¡¡¡¡¡ Sure i am interested on it. I think it is a very good deal, The HPN one costs 1500 for 23 lts total capacity, :eek1 this new underseat tank in combination with original one makes 13+8 = 21lts for 500 euros. My big concerns are: ¿do you loose any rear shock travel with this underseat tank?:huh ¿can you still mount rear footpegs kit?:huh I hope you can hang some pics of it. Thanks.
Sofar I have only those two pics, the first one is the rough layout, the second one the form that the tank will have, using all nooks and crannies under the seat. The maker told me it would use the footpegs as additional fastening points. But as I don't have passenger footpegs, he promised to design it in a way that I can mount it too. He intends to have the filler cap under the seat as he is using the quick release for the seat from TT. But will make some with filler cap on the right side. And it will work with an 18" wheel. I'll keep you posted. http://www.gs-forum.eu/attachment.php?attachmentid=6763&d=1207071132 http://www.gs-forum.eu/attachment.php?attachmentid=6907&d=1207828755
thank you, is very good it uses rear pegs mounts, and that allows space enough for rear wheel travel. I see your friend has a sidecar WWII BMW on the garage, good.........those guys are very clean and practical on its adaptations of new accessories and mods. Please keep us updated about the final prototype installed, pump, etc... whenever is ready and if you also accept PAYPAL.............i am done on this. original BMW fuel tank: 13 lts = 0 €. 230km fuel range. combo 1: BMW original 13 lts + underseat 8 lts = 21 lts for 500€ . 372 km fuel range. For this 500€ you´ve got 8 lts plus an addittional fuel range of 140 kms. combo 2: HPN 23 lts + Underseat 8lts = 31lts ¡:huh for 1.500 € + 500€ = 2.000 € . 550 kms Fuel range . for a 1.500€ plus than in combo one you have 10 lts plus and 175km plus of fuel range. combo 3: AQ 30 lts+ 13 lts original BMW + 8 lts underseat = 51 LITERS ¡¡¡¡ FOR 1.700 € + 500€ = 2.300€ . 900 kms fuel range . for 300€ plus than in combo two, youve got 20 more liters and 350kms plus of fuel range. combo 4: TT 17 lts + 13 lts original BMW + 8 lts underseat = 38 lts . 1300€ + 500€ = total 1.800€. fuel range 674kms. That means that; HPN + underseat is (proportionally on what you get) the most expensive combination. for 2000€. That means it is beaten by BMW + Underseat what is the cheapest for 500€. I mean that for the additional net 10 lts on hpn you pay 1500€ ¡¡¡¡¡¡ Total of 2000€ and still only 31lts???? The TT + underseat offers 38lts, for 1800€, means 7 lts plus than hpn combo but for 200 euros LESS. AQ is the long range / price ratio winner. you pay 500€ for underseat 8 lys as in other combos but only 1700€ for 30 lts (HPN 23 lts for 1500€. 7 lts for 300€, but as you keep original BMW you really have 20 lts for 300 €. TOTAL 51 ¡¡¡¡¡ ok i alerady have headache, i am going to sleep, i´ll dream about a week with no gas stations around, ho ho ho.
Interested........this may be usefull for the mega moto boys also. I think you will get alot of interest
<BR> Oh no, you're not done by a kilometer. Work out the -per-additional-liter for your 4 combos <BR>
<BR> Cool that a garage enterprise is going for this. What sort of plastic manufacturing method is this tank going to be? <BR>
No no no, he's a pro working in the plastic business, mainly doing plastic for BMW 7 series, tubes, fenders etc.
<BR> That's fine, there are many professionals based in a home lab/shop. I didn't mean anything by it. So what type of plastic? Some Europeans consider plastic to include fiberglass and resin. <BR>
