Today begins the journey to North Carolina from San Clemente California to pick up the new to me GS Adventure. I'm doing a fly-n-ride, and will be attempting a iron butt CC50 on the way back. That is a coast-to-coast ride in less than 50 hours, from Jacksonville Florida to San Diego California. I'm also going to be installing quite a few farkles and other parts when I arrive in North Carolina. I'll be documenting the add-ons, updates, and farkleation of the bike with photos and comments here in this thread. I'll also be doing a ride report complete with photos and video of the trip across the country. Stay tuned...
Many people have asked about the items I've put on my bike, so I'm going to start a running list here with links to everything I have put on the bike. Awsome, fly all the way across the continent, buy a 'new to you' bike, bolt on a bunch of farkles and ride back to the other side of the continent in 50 hours or less, in the winter. What could go wrong? You should strap a bengal tiger to the passenger seat just to make it interesting. Call it the ride of Pi. Seriously - Good luck.
great!! now if you would only change your avatar,,, it makes it difficult to concentrate on your posts
Nowhere near Chicago this trip. I'm staying as far south as possible. I'm picking the bike up from another inmate via Capitol BMW in Raleigh, NC.
sounds like an adventure in the making.....congrats on the new ride, will definitely follow you along. all the best,
Lucky Bugger...I have to wait till May for my fly n ride to WI. I also will take possession of new to me Triple Black GSA. All the best on your ride. You'll probably need surgery to get the grin on your face once your on the bike.
If he shows up at your place looking for help, point him south, way south. On google maps it says 2550 miles and 37 hours. Should be a piece of cake then, you have left yourself 13 hours to account for the winter.
I just purchased a new to me '12 Triple Black a few months ago. I am in North West NC if needed. Good luck in your journey.
Hello neighbor! I just bought a brand new R1200GS Triple Black this week and I am in San Clemente. Maybe meet up for a ride some time. Have a great, safe trip!
Send me a pm with your info... I'll be back next week and we can talk about break-in rides around the area...
