Edit: As of Oct. 27, 2013 - RTR is back! Not quite in its former glory yet, but Rome wasn't built in a day! :) Thanks for all your hard work Jon!
    Steve

Some inmates on ADVrider also frequent ridethrock.com.
Rtr has been unavailable since yesterday (Saturday, Sep 15). When you try to link to the forums page you get a page saying the site has been hacked. I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes... This is only an FYI.

Edit: link no longer shows hacked page info, just an error. Hopefully that's a good sign!

Ahhh...so it's not my wonky computer! I've been trying to find out what happened.
Hope you don't mind a couple of pics taken over the past few days.

Funny thing is GTAM has been hacked this morning as well.

Who the F. thinks "Hey I am going to prove my chops by hacking a motorcycle forum. The boys down at hacking central won't question my street cred after this."?

RTR seems to be still down. but now with this message...

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /index.html on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I don't know if it was hacked, or just crashed, but it's a drag either way.

Been there. I had a site about Newfoundland events hacked once... it took about 18 hours but I tracked down two German students and had them expelled from their university.

Security is very complicated and outside the possibilities of most home boxes. However, it looks like this web site is hosted in the US. Chances are the RTR owner/admin JP is very frustrated as their system is down and beyond their control. On the other hand, it could be a full host so they're responsible for their own programming. An upgrade could have gone wrong and the owner just hasn't had the time to recover from the problem.

Not sure if the image attachment will work, but I'll try.
Here's a screen cap of the forums page from the day after ridetherock.com went down. Doesn't look like a crash to me! :)

I am a member of another motorcycle related website and the administrator has emailed me twice to inform me that someone made several attempts to log in under my user account, but were unable to because of incorrect password ... the site admin provided me with the I.P. addresses of the perps and I checked 'em out ... one was from St. Petersburg, Russia and the other from France ...

Hacking asshats should all get a kick in the nuts!

Just like the Cod.........She's gone b'yes...She's gone. :cry

I hope I am wrong but I suspect the bullshit of last year combined with the hackers has beaten the administration of the site into submission.

My personal thanks to Coolhand and his former mods for all the hard efforts. It was a pleasure to get to know a lot of the members over the past few years.
