Kennedy Meadows is located east-northeast of Kernville (WARPED event location) and west of Death Valley off hwy 395 and 9-mile canyon in the Sequoia National Forest off the Sherman Pass Road:

There’s tons of easy to hard single track for green sticker bikes and dual sport bikes. There's also lots of fire-roads and the beautiful Monache Meadow 4x4 trail (actually quite easy >>> noob approved). :ricky

The August trip had better weather than June…no bugs either. Even though it would be hot down on the desert floor, the weather is very pleasant at 8000’ elevation.

Weather in September has a high in the mid-70's:jkamand a low in the low-40’s.

The Troy Meadow overflow camping area is FREE and based on a first come – first served policy. I plan on trailering in Thursday to claim our section of the campground large enough to accommodate the amount of folks on the sign-up list.

If you're in, please include your first name so I can include it on the sign-up list.

Hi Rich,
where is Kennedy Meadow anyway?
it seem like you have done that place before.
Can you give me a link to your past posting for that ride.
Like to know more about Kennedy Meadow before I go.

Late Sept or Oct is really a good time to go, a lot cooler but that’s not necessary. It is a lot less crowded though. Are you running DS bikes or real off road MC’s. I really wouldn’t want to ride a KLR on a lot of the single track with DS tires.

As long as you have an approved spark arrestor. If you're running the stock gas tank you might want to get a larger tank, see you there Ben

I already have a 3 1/2 gln tank. But after the Afton canyon ride I better carry a xtra gln. As for the spark arrestor I have the pro circuit usfs approved pipe. Ben

Since the July date is a bit too close to the WRMS Bishop ride, I’ll go ahead and plan on August 29-31 (Fri-Sun) dates. The original August 22-24 dates conflicted with my current, yet temporary, bull-s*#t work schedule (every-other Saturday)…sorry for the mix-up. The Troy Meadow overflow camping area is FREE and based on a first come – first served policy. I plan on arriving Thursday evening to claim our section of the campground large enough to accommodate the amount of folks on the sign-up list.

That looks like Labor Day weekend, Monday Sept 1 being Labor Day

looks like a possibility for us, green sticker bikes being what we have, if you folks can tolerate a couple of noobs

Yikes! We were going to put our name down until we saw it was Labor Day weekend. We make it a point not to go out on those weekends as we have the luxury of picking quieter dates. We would so love to go to Kennedy Meadows, we must have passed the turn off on 395 a hundred times.

Even though its late summer; there may be a few wet spots. You don't want to be kicking at high altitude in 85 degree heat. Steve.

Cant fully commit just yet, due to some tentative work trips lingering around that timeframe, but i'll definately be watching this thread. KM is one of my favorite places to ride.

coming in a little hot....:D
