I'd never seen it before, just came in from mounting and balancing 4 tires. Looked interesting, I'd like to have one to play with....
Some people seem to enjoy using 205 but it's mostly a doucebag move. I never would have seen that tool if you hadn't posted it and I'm in the Garage often.
Verry eenterestink! But am wundering if tool help deesmount tire ass vell? Und iss awailable in U.S.A.?
Yep, same here; that doohickey looks like it would beat spooning a tire on any day. No need for rim protectors and it can't pinch-flat a tube. 99 Euros plus international shipping might have your wallet going though.
I like it too, might even have enough Delrin to make one of them. The ratchet part is nice but not all that necessary once you have the idea. Really....205???? So much stuff on this site, not because someone may have seen that before here that they should put that stoopid thing up. Maybe a link to where it was, could show a proper tool test from the ones that have actually used one. Thanks Mr.Stumpalump !
Guys in tire mounting videos always look like magicians to me. Is that tool really that good? If so, it seems awesome. And, it's a pretty simple design- I can't believe this wasn't invented a long time ago.
That's what gets me. I would imagine that the guy in the video is an expert and he struggled getting the second bead on. I mean, not as much as I do with spoons - but he did struggle a bit. How tough would it be for me to use it? The part I really like is that you can't pinch the tube. Nothing like dismounting a freshly mounted tire to replace your brand new tube. Been there.
I think the ratchet just compensates for different size rim diameters. Looks like a very cool tool for the shop.
Putting the tire on is the easy part, does that gizmo work for taking the old tire off? If it does, I'll order one!
Oh, I'm sure that I could find a way... It's a slick setup, but you still have to remove the old tire, and it requires a certain range of axle sizes: 20-28mm.
I'd like to get one to play with. I emailed the company, looks like 99 EURO is 126 USD right now. Asked about shipping charge and any discount for quantities > 1 PMR
I have one on the way, one of the vendors over on CafeHusky.com did us a favor of organizing a group buy. When I get a chance to use it, I'll comment on how well it works.
