THIS BUY THREAD IS NOW CLOSED (08/03/2011)!!!! But see the end of this thread and Guy may do further runs! Guy has used all the material he purchased for this run. **10/19/2011 Edit** Renner emailed HPMGuy to see about another run... check the end of this thread To help out Guy, I am putting this thread up.... I will not be fronting the $$ for other ADVR's who do want a set of these triples, and each will be accountable to settle with Guy on payment. Using plans created by R-Dubb, HPMGuy is machining triple clamp pairs that will allow you to put KTM forks onto your BMW Airhead.... the clamps do not come with a stem, and a KTM stem must be acquired and machined to work. This is the second run of these, and a few ADVR's have been running the first bach for a few years now, including Roadsacallin who took his around the world.. The original group buy thread is HERE and provides details on the triple clamps... I am sure that HPMGuy will chime in here to answer questions as well as providing details. The original design thread is HERE Some information on the conversion, and picture of the member's bikes using HPMGuy's triples are located in my thread HERE Other threads with info are HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE the goods:

Alright, I'm in. (again) 4860 forks with stock KTM leg spacing, anodized black. I'd like to see a top view drawing of the rework for the 4860s beforehand if possible. Thanks.
4. Definitely in as well - WP 50mm extremes. Anodised black would be fine, but ideally would prefer clear. Cheers Lachlan
No problem, as soon as there is enough interest in this style (and someone can supply me with the bore diameters) I will rework the design and post a copy here.
I need to buy some KTM triples just to get a usable stem. What if I just buy a set off of ebay and have them sent to you so you can get the measurements you need? Also, if I do that would it be possible to have you turn the KTM stem down to fit BMW bearings and press it into the new bottom triple?
That would be fine. Doesn't look like there is much interest in anything but the 50mm right now though, I would need to get an order for at least 4 sets of the 4860 style to make a run. You might want to wait and see what happens. 50mm guys are almost good to go on their own.....
Here's one more old thread that gives the detail on the rake and trail for these triples (or so I believe) LINK
Question about the 50mm forks - Can you even buy springs for these things anywhere? They'd need to be resprung, but the heaviest bike they were used on was the 640 adventure. Did anyone make any heavier springs for them?
Jay.T's guy the rebuilt his WP 50mm's added custom wound springs. I'll PM him and ask who the guy is. Some more possibilities: A google search says that inmate ZeroDog supplied custom wound springs at one point (06/10) Lindeman advertises custom springs http://www.le-suspension.com/fork-services/ Superplush (KTM Experts) advertise "many rates" for their springs... http://www.superplushsuspension.com/
Hmmm. I was considering going the 50mm route and scrapping the 4860s, but not being able to buy off the shelf KTM springs easily and cheaply kinda sounds like a deal breaker to me. Plus I just gotta have that huge axle.
Well, the parts fiche shows the stock KTM springs for a 2010 990 Adventure running $287.99 at retail, and the three places I saw building custom springs were both around $150.00.....
what is the dead line for this group buy? I still have some stuff to figure as I dont have a clue what model to go with or any of the pluses or minuses between the different models.
If avaliable for the later model WP48mm USD forks i'm in. I have a 640 Adventure 2006 with WP48 and the dual disc setup. Way to powerful for the 640 but probably perfect for my GS....
