This space held for future updates regarding my ongoing tribulations with racing a 1990 BMW R100GSPD... many of you might have seen it at one point or another--

I'll start off with a list of things that have been done, maybe with pics to bring you all up to speed, and then a list of things that need to be done and a list of things that I want to do.

This will take a while I'm sure, but I'm open to and appreciate all your suggestions and gracious input- I can sure use all the help I can get.

As of right now, I am headed again for the Sandblast Rally in SOuth Carolina in two weeks. Everything should be relatively ready to go... I need to put some fresh knobby tires on, but have in the last two weeks changes all the fluids except front brake. (rear diff, trans, engine and fork oil) and also done the small oil press. and neutral safety switch plus the small sub-harness that feeds them.

Mostly I can get through the day with just new tires, I think, but I am -><- this close to throwing down a grand on the Siebenrock replacement piston/cyl kit.

Not that I'm going to install it before the race (not doing that again :hmph) but I also need to change from an Omega system to an Enduralast, and also pic myself up an Odyessy PC680 battery.

    HELLO ARE YOU IN THERE?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Go ahead and pull up to the starting line. :evil

    Completely in.

What will you be doing to the suspension, rear in particular, to make the R100 more raceworthy?

If you were really hard-core you'd run points :D I've got 60k on my Enduralast an I've never touched it. My Odyssey is over 5 years old and has more than that since the PO pulled it off another bike.

I ought to be able to make it to the Sandblast Rally this year. I'll see ya there!

    Hi Cordless! :D
I have simply a Wilbers rear shock. Recently had it rebuilt by Ted Porter out in Cali. (The Beemershop) I have some numbers on it, will try to fill you in on those.
Its a great shock, reasonably priced... this one was originally put on about 25-30K miles ago.

I also have a HPM GUy driveshaft that has the hard, off-road urethane coupler. He spec's greasing the cardans at 10K mile intervals... Anton tells me that is an unrealistic number, and I am now at about 15K... Not willing to open it up just yet. Everything feels fine back there, so I'm leaving it alone for a while longer.

    Otherwise, the rear is stock!

I think you need to put together some "Stagehand Racing Team" Tee-shirts to fund this year's events...

Sign me up for one if you!

But, it's gotta have an airehead reference on it somewhere!

You guys know I dont win anything, ever, right? :lol3

I dont need funding, but I'd be happy to send you a sticker. What I could use is some competition. You know they stick me in the Heavy class with the HP2's and KTM 990's :lol I am by far the only one riding an airhead GS.

This year Rallymoto is introducing Teams. :wink remind me to remind you about that soon

Well, we do have an Old's Cool guy who can make stickers (Khao) and we have an inmate/moderator (Heyduke) that owns/runs a T-Shirt shop here in Colorado.

    So, let me see:

    1. Means - Check
    2. Motive - Check
    3. Opportunity - Unsure. Need the SH blessing. Maybe check with his wunderful girlfriend.

    Woo hoo!

    Looking forward to it.

I installed the Siebenrock cylinders and 9.5:1 pistons a few years back. A nice improvement over what was a pretty ratty motor beforehand. These are just the domed pistons, not the high displacement, squish band pistons.

In for damn sure. Maybe I should ride over. Buy the time I get there I may have done enough dirt miles to pretend to be competitive!
