I set out yesterday for Ozark-ST.Francis Nat Forest north of Mt. View. No particular route an was following the GPS down a few gravel roads on the TOPO to see if I could get from paved road to paved road in the general direction of travel. Hit quite a few gates and turn arounds that seemed like I would be going through some ones yard.

A large old mining area just east and north east of Guion has a lot of nice little roads that I haven't been down so I just had to see where they came out.

On one road I popped over a hill into a nice little valley and came up on one of those sort of grown up, fenced in places. Two old houses of distinctly different era of construction and then this little gem with chimney in tact.

My first thoughts were, Grandpa's house, great grandpa's house and then great great grandpa's house.

I made my way on into Mt.View for a burger at the Cheeseburger Grill and then on up to the forest via Green Mt. Road off Hwy 5 just north of Allison. I wound my way through the forest. Very peaceful back in there with a few good views now that the leaves have fallen a little. I took a road that had been closed off up until this year some time and made it over to Barkshed camping area to see if the roads to 341 had been opened up again. Not a chance in that respect as they still have the small bridge barricaded off. So back to Hwy 14 just west of Fifty Six, AR on the other forest road after crossing the newly constructed bridge.

Made it back to Newport following Hwy 14 all the way. For a trip of 200 miles.
Hwy 14 is flooded just before you get to the White river and I had to run through water about five times before getting up on the raised part of old Hwy 67 (367). Some of it was up over the crank case. Water it still rising and came up at least 4' from where it was on Saturday.

Gunner Pool campground would be a great spot for a meet up/campout/ride...

Lots of good riding and scenery in the surrounding area.

As a kid, I was able to ride there before the days of closed roads, and no trespassing signs.

I remember riding across the white river at Allison and Guion on the current powered ferry's... There were cables across the river and the ferryman would turn some wheels to change the angle of the vessel so the water current would push the boat across with 5 or 6 cars on it.

How cool is that! I have wondered what it was since I saw it. I use pictures of this building for a screen saver. Now I know, thanks!

My 3x Great-Grandfather built the Wolf House that is in Norfork. It was built in the 1820's. My Great-Grandmother, Mary Arkansas Wolf was
born in and married in the house. Her son, my grandfather, stayed and played at the house. He was born in 1889.

Does anyone have a picture of the house to post?
