Hey guys, I'm selling my bike on Craigslist, and was contacted by someone who says he's a lawyer in Atlanta, he also said he was willing to fly up with cash to ride the bike home. I was just curious if anyone had hear of Jim/James Johnston being an attorney in Atlanta. Also if people know he is legitimate. He's looking at my ktm 640e so maybe someone here knows him.

    Thanks in advance!

Also I'm in Connecticut, that's the reason I'm asking, it's not like I'm very close otherwise I wouldn't find it strange.

It's not that unusual. People do fly and rides all the time.

Meet in a public place and keep the title secure until you have cash in hand.

    I've attempted a Saddle Sore 1K on a DRZ400.
    Twice.
With a dual sport event planned into the mileage to make it tough.
    Just sayin'

Only accept cash or bank transfer (and don't give anything till the money is in your account) and you should have no problems.

That's the part that surprised me, I mean it's great bike and all, but that doesn't sound like fun, atleast if they rode the slab the whole way down

People use other peoples names on Craig's list all the time best to do cash deal in a neutral location NEVER sell from home keep business separate. Remember some photos you have will have the location on them so take pictures elsewhere for your ad. It's pretty easy just to come by and take your bike when your at work so leave personals out of the chit chat stuff like I can meet after 6:00 I work till then. Basically your not friends keep business professional to avoid any issues.

    He's legit an attorney...

(assuming, as others have noted, that he really is whom he says he is...you could always call the number listed on the ga bar site and talk to him direct)

Not easy to get your name on this list otherwise:

(finally that 1 year in law school comes in handy for something)

Have the guy purchase a money order for the amount of purchase from the bank that you have an account in. Meet the guy at your bank and deposit the money order into your account with him present and give him the title when the money order clears which should be about 30 seconds.

Public place, funds cleared, notory on site to motorized any documents needed, and no cash involved...

Inmate who bought my 640E a few years ago picked it up in NC and rode it home to Chicago. I think he did a ride report on the trip.

    Edit, found the link.
