The DT-50 was very common back then, as was the RX-50, also known as the "50 Special" which was a 50cc 2 stroke street bike that looked just like Yamaha's line of "Special" cruiser. The bodywork on that DT-50 is probably home made or modified from some other bike.

I remember my mate Paul Smith getting a brand new DT50 for his 16th Birthday. I wonder if he still rides bikes 35 years later?

Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

If it were closer, the local atm would upchuck a few 20's for it. Not that a fairing is required for such a slow pace.

    Very cool!

I dont know, maybe the bodywork is some sort of aftermarket kit that was available at the time that the bike was new but I dont think it has been adapted from another bike. Look at the fit of the bodywork around the instrument cluster and the seamless way it covers the tank and blends into the side panels. Obviously made for that bike. I am sure it is great for blocking that viscious 35mph wind blast

The fairing is a yamaha aftermarket kit made specifically for the dt50. They're pretty rare. someone should snatch this sucker up.

Did anyone save the pic? The ad is gone now.
There is a stock one in mint condition in my town that I'm thinking about grabbing.

There is also a stock DT50 here in the Albuquerk area for a pretty good price.
