What are the correct socket sizes for the front and rear axle nuts? I'm renting a GS next month and would like to take the appropriate tools along 'just in case'. Cheers Douf
That's right 24mm/17mm. Motion Pro makes a nice compact double-ended steel spanner in the 24/17 size.
John, check MSR. I could have been wrong about the Motion Pro offering. http://www.thefind.com/sports/info-riders-wrench The second url (below) is to the Rocky site which has the six point (both ends) wrench in stock. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?&navTitle=Tools/Shop&webTypeId=169&webCatId=22&prodFamilyId=11679&navType=type&stockId=98873#vehicleSelect I actually bought the wrench to fit my GF's Honda CRF230L which by shear coincidence is the same as the F800GS which I purchased after I already had the wrench.
Hi, now we figured out the nut size, What is the size of the hex internal insert needed to back out the axle. If it is anything like my v-strom it's threaded (axle) into the left lower fork leg?? Please correct me if i'm wrong
It's not threaded into the fork leg. Just give it a lil' rap-tap-tappy once everything is loose and it'll slide out.
Am I correct in assuming that neither the 24/17 wrenches or the torx socket are included in the standard toolkit?
