Hi folks, it's that time of the year again. It's our annual pilgrimage to Carrizo and Pozo.....:ricky

the plan is to have breakfast @ 9am in ojai. based on the # of riders on the IN list, we can determine which restaurant to make the reservation.

those coming from los angeles will meet at the gas station at the roxford exit off the 5. @ 7am. ventu, camarillo and santa clarita riders can meet the l.a. riders at the CORNER GAS STATION in santa paula on hw150 (OJAI RD) @ hw126 @ 8am.

after breakfast, we ride via hw33 (twisty pavement) to maricopa, get gas and ride into carrizo plain (easy dirt).

then head to pozo (easy dirt fire roads) for lunch. in the afternoon, we'll take hi mountain rd (some sections were rocky and water crossing) to lopez lake. those who prefer another route home, can turn around and back track or take the pavement to arroyo grande to hw101.

it is likely that we have to spend the night in santa maria or any place of your choice if you want to camp or motel.

i made my reservation at motel 6 @ $48.59 for saturday night in santa maria. this is the ideal place if we get to ride hi-mountain road on the way out to hw101.

Not that it will drastically affect your ride, but Hi mountain road was closed when I went by this weekend and if it rains within the 2-3 days prior to this ride, will probably be closed again. Sounds like a good time though, I'll try to meet up midway somewhere, any idea what your ETA is to Maricopa?

In my opinion, absolutely yes. It's hard to say what damage the rains have done lately, though.
    No sand that I recall.
There was one tricky section. :deal

haven't seen anyone done it before, but you may not be the first. the dirt roads are doable on a 250 ninja......:evil

last year we got skunked at hi mountain, hopefully it will be a different story on the 15th.

no eta yet but my guess will be around 1 pm

Sounds like a blast, Joel. I won't be quite healed up enough on the 15th unfortunately. Doc looked me sternly in the eye and said no bike shenanigans until the 27th so I'm staying on the side of caution to make sure I'm good for all the spring and summer riding :D

    Have a great time! :thumb

I camped at Morro Strand down at the ocean. I don't recall the name of the other guy or where he camped. Camping fee at Morro Strand was $35 a night and the Motel 6 nearby was $40-something.

I did this last year. I was only able to ride on Saturday. From my door to door last year It was 467 miles. I was tired and sore for a few days. But I did have a kick ass time. Ill try to get the weekend off for this one. Its time to turn my xrl into its touring mode. Ben

no worry jo...i'm with you. heal properly and let time do the wonders.

don't believe in johngil's pic of me...that was photoshopped. i'm not stupid enough to go riding 3 months after a shoulder cuff repair.

we all stayed together all the time in the past.

once we hit pozo road @ 3pm....everybody had only couple of things in mind... beer and food....:freaky

We've got 10 days to clear this up !

Chains or snow tires are required from 6.4 miles north of Wheeler Hot Springs to 9 miles south of the Santa Barbara County line on Highway 33, the California Department of Transportation reported. Highway 33 had been closed from Wheeler Gorge to Lockwood Valley Road due to snow since Sunday.
