November is one of the nicer month's in Southern California. Today was a good day to "air out" the Airhead. My little 50 mile tour starts in Long Beach and crosses a couple of bridges to San Pedro and up the hill to Rancho Palos Verdes. Vincent Thomas Bridge crosses over the L.A./L.B. harbor and drops you in San Pedro. The SS Princess Something-a-Rather and the USS Iowa are pretty close to each other. Headed up the hill to Rancho PV. Good views today, for the off-shore breeze kept for fog/smog away. The Wayfarers Chapel is a popular wedding place. Trump National Golf Club, a wanna-be Pebble Beach. NOT. Thanks for taggin' along!
I never get tired of that ride. Lived in Torrance most of my life and have taken that ride many many times
VanXR, My goal was to swing around PV and head up PCH and go do some sight seeing around the Rock Store. As it turns out I just spent too much time in Long Beach around the docks, and then trying to get to the top of PV. If your still in Torr, I like TNT cafe for good Hawaiian food. Sam
Always a big consideration when riding out of SoCal. Of course in CA it is legal to laneshare(splitting)and I do it depending on my mood, a great time saver in many cases. The airhead, I've had about 3 years now, it's a fun dependable bike, she's a keeper. Thanks for weighing in. Sam
Definitely a sweet airhead! Used to visit family frequently in Belmont shore and tour those area's with the Wife(by cage). . She's the golfer in the family and shares your sentiments of the Trump course... Nice pics!
I love RPV. The hills are so beautiful there. I went to a wedding there recently... I swear some of the homes are just ridiculous.. Beautiful million dollar views for days though.
Hey Shooby, I live right over the bridge from BS. Mrs. & I get over once in a while, it's definitely a dog-eat-dog parking world over there. But we take the scooter, so ez-pzy. Inflation now magicmark, 2-3million dollar views, but when you get on the south and west side of RPV, you just shake your head, it is quite beautiful. Thanks sophijo, everyone should have an airhead.
great pix! thanks for sharing. PV was/is an old favorite ride of me and my buddies - with a stop for breakfast at Pacific Diner.
Bicyclebradley, Yep, I rode right by it the other day, telling myself I should check it out. I've heard some folks talking about this place, and it all sounds good! Thanks for the tip!
Hey Samthg -- Just found this. Very cool! I really like all your pics. A couple of years ago we took two cruises to Mexico that started/ended right from your backyard. Very pretty area. Once we stayed at the Marriott Long Beach during "Gay Pride Weekend." At the time, my son was probably 8-9. Very entertaining when he asked about all the men in the hotel elevator who were wearing dresses. Since my wife is "medical," I deflected that question to her. Of course . . . as always, that is one cool looking bike you have! Hope is well.
Hey RRR, Nice to hear from you. The area in and around downtown Long Beach has just exploded the past decade. They have worked hard to make it the 'go-to' place. The domed terminal used to be home to the Spruce Goose, which is now housed in a wonderful museum in McMinville, OR. The Queen Mary, well, that thing should have been sunk years ago, inho. Many years ago Disney wanted to take over this waterfront of Long Beach and turn it into Disney Sea, but the city voted it down. Would have been interesting to see what would have become of LB if that would have happened. I've been itching to get to SG, hopefully you'll have a few hours to show me some new real estate! Thanks for weighing in. Sam
Hello abhi, First welcome to the asylum of ADV! Been heading up to PV since my high school days to watch the submarine races. Well, actually much earlier than that. My folks used to drag me up to Marineland, kinda of a pre-Sea World type of place. BTW, Handel's ice cream on PCH.
