BMW Rallye GS1 - boots - NEW
1 Attachment(s)
These are new boots available from your local BMW dealership. Like most/all BMW products they are not "made" by BMW but outsourced from a 3rd party OEM.

These look like they are made by SIDI given the external ankle protection/hinge. The inside with the lace-up tongue is like the Aerostitch combat touring boots. Thus the combination is supposed to be more off-road ready boots (vs. BMW's current offering which are a joke) but made for "adventure touring".

Price at CalBMW was $275 which is steep but in the range of what you'd pay for boots from Sidi or Alpinestar. FWIW, I'm sticking w/my Alpinestars both the Vectors and the Tech 8's (which can't be beat). But for those BMW customers who own a GS yet have never been to another store other than their local dealer (or maybe even offroad) this is a product that I think will sell.

I'm sure in a few months you will find them all over,,,for cheap.

"my wife tell the boots or her"kind of scenario.(good for me I'm not married).
many people will buy them and i'm sure must of them will be sold.

I'm sure the safety is much higher than the typical BMW boots, but the confort will be hamper(diminish) and for most people boots are about confort.....

and the are F$#@@& Fuggly too.

I want some for half the price,,I can wait..I don't care:1drink ,I need the extra money for another pair of boots so I can walk to the motorcycle, and then change, and then change again.......:arg

Are they waterproof?

Kinda wish they were black. Oh well.

yes waterproof
GoreTex lined and with lace up fronts they should be good to go.

David, any idea how big they are (adjustable) around the calf muscle?

I have rather large calfs 19 " and wear a size 10-10/1/2 boot (Euro 45) and most boots don't fit?

davidhpark 04-07-2003 11:13 PM

not much I think
I don't know for sure but if they are anything like the SIDIs they aren't 'that' adjustable. I've tried 'em all and the Alpinestars are best in this regard. The Sidis because of the hard plastic ankle protection aren't wide at the calf area. I have same issues, then you add in putting your pant leg in rallye style and a Asterisk knee brace and you're SOL. Go try em on though as this is the only way you'll know.

tried some the other week for a laugh.

They are not very adjustable at all - I couldn't get them to close round the calf and I am by no means robust.
It must have taken 10 minutes to just get them on my feet never mind faffing with that lace up thingy.
Cripplingly uncomfortable, I wouldn't even be able to walk to the garage and no sign that they would bed in.

And I have to say ...... they looked sh**te (IMHO)
