The XT600 Thread
Ok, since all of the other makes seem to have their own threads, I thought I'd start a thread for the XT600, outcast that it seems to be. Hope we can share pics/info/tips since they're few and far between here in the states.
Here's a few pics of me on my 1990 XT600 this afternoon playing in the snow: Her first trip out in the snow: http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2006.jpg http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2021.jpg This ain't so bad: http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2023.jpg http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2027.jpg http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2028.jpg All done and back in the shed: http://josh.sitenation.com/images/bike/tn_IMG_2035.jpg --JOsh |

nice cr_turboguy ! I picked me up a '94 a few months back. What a fun little hooligan bike ! I see you gots an acerbis tank , might get one down the road a bit. What knobbies are you running in the snow ? I am contemplating Pirelli MT21s in the very near future.

Good luck finding the tank. :) From the research I'd done, they appear decently hard to come by, unless you go through one of the European places.
As for tires, I've currently got some MT-21's w/ about 2k on there. They were pretty new when I picked up the bike, should have changed them out for something a little more street friendly. I've got a set of the Mefo Explorers waiting to go on sometime this spring. In the snow we got here, I couldn't get much traction. I've got a small hill on the side of my house and couldn't make it up the hill, had to try to get turned around and head back to the lower half of my yard. I think w/ some studs, they might do better, but I doubt I'll be finding that out anytime soon. --JOsh |
Suspension Info
I had contacted WP Suspension about if they had anything for my bike, or a US dealer. They had a guy named Jim Lindemann out of California contact me with the following info:

Racks
Oh, and anyone looking for some rack information, I have this info on Hepco & Becker. This is their US importer, they can get the XT600 racks, both for the older 80's models, as well as the 90's ones.

'87 XT600, my first motorcycle, bought it about 3.5yrs ago with only 2400miles on it. This pic was about a month ago on my first trip 'ranch' ridinng in some creek bottoms. I've got a new set of D606's waiting to be put on. I built the rear rack and light brackets to relocate everything up out of the way a bit. Think I'm going to order a 4gal Clarke tank this spring.

I rented one in New Zealand last October and had a blast with it, rode 50/50 gravel and twisty tarmac. I'm trying to rent one again for this weekend!
