Eastern Sierra Ride Oct.27-28th
This may be one the few weekends left before the snow takes over.
Our base camp is at the French Camp near Tom's Place just off the HW 395. It's north of Bishop, south of Mammoth and Mono Lake.
Right now, there are 3 riders (a 650XL and 2 KTM 640) and 2 GS showing up Saturday morning. We'll all be tent camping.
Plan to be there by 10pm Friday or Sat morning around 9.
We're thinking of heading to Wheeler Crest (near French Camp) on Sat and Coyote Flats (south of Bishop) on Sunday.
See link below.

The rides will be easy to mild, nothing crazy, mostly exploring and enjoying the sceneries.
Riding Coyote Flats on Sat will bring us closer to socal at the end of the ride.
If you'll let me know by end of the day tomorrow, we can add more food to our groceries. All the cooking will be done by one of the guys. You don't have to bring any food, other than your snacks and drinks. We split the grocery expense at the end of the day. We can stuff many of our stuff on the jeeps so we don't have to load up the bikes too much.
Hope to see more guys this weekend in spite of the short notice.
have out there---i did that coyote loop last weekend and there are definitly some loose tricky sections that will require help going up and serious caution going down using heavy bikes
I heard there are easy routes to bypass the tougher trails.
Normally, if it's going to spoil the ride, I will take another route.
Thanks for the heads up.
Pictures from the trip
3 bikes and 2 jeeps, and bunch of cool guys.
It wasn't too cold that weekend.
Did Wheeler Crest Saturday.
At 11,300ft, unfortunately the sun was out and the view down below wasn't there.
After a little while, the jeeps showed up.
The trail is mixed mud, snow, rocks and sand!
The trail at 10K feet.
Picture was taken on the way up at lower elevation
Stucazzo on his 640lc4
I thought this guy hates chains!
Time to ride!
It surely was a dry year, stucazzo in front of a dry lake.
We move on past the lake!
stucazzo troubles began. this is really pretty steep! good thing the jeepers caught up.
From another perspective. Now it looks steep.
stucazzo starts thumping again
Made it to almost to the top.
Back to the camp.
Next morning we headed to Laurel Lakes @ 11,000 feet.
Big Al - former desert racer and champion mx rider!
The jeepers to my rescue. Dang, that 640A is damned heavy! At high altitude, you'll only half as strong.
4x meets 2
Looking down below
It was fun!
Thanks Joel and the crew who gave me some push to conquer these trails. The 640 was a bit too much weight but i didn't lay her down! It was a alot of fun with you and the guys. I would go for it again anytime! Lets do some more High Sierra rides! :1drink
Looks like a great trip Joel! :clap Some awesome riding up there for sure!!!
Glad I didn't bring the big beemer out there.
