who is planning on getting an 800gs?

with over a bazillion posts over the course of 2+ years, i am wondering who is actually getting one. money down, whatever.

I love the bumblebee F800GS, and love the bike over all. I am going to wait a bit though and see how they perform and how the over all reliability works out. Maybe get an '09 or a late '08 once the hype is down and prices more reasonable.

Good to see that "it's not orange" is crusing into a impressive 40% lead at present :1drink At last weeks CycleWorld bike show I was checking out the (*very* nice looking) R800GS and happened to opine to the guy from BMW N/A my views on the total lack of adjustment on the front suspension. His reply was that if you wanted adjustible front suspension you were "supposed" to be getting the R12GS. Obviously in BMWs book, $11k doesn't admit one to the adjustible suspension clique (or it only gets the rear end of you in there) and the cost for that is $14.5k. Oh well, I'm sure TT will offer a variant of their WP suspension kit from the 650GS for the R800 and the faithful will rush to buy it, only another $2800 or so .... pass the cool-aid please, gulp.

It's got a chain :cry .

You need to add an option for "Waiting to get a used fully farkled 800GS in 2010"

How about a plain old "NO"? I don't like orange, either.

I want one. I will almost undoubtedly sell my 08 KLR when they come out if I can get my hands on one. Love the KLR, but this thing is just what I want. Faster than the thumper, smaller than the liter ADV bikes.

Cheff you have to get the bumblebee so when I get the grey/black we don't have a fashion fopaux. Where to buddy?

:freaky

Maybe the forks off one of the G (450/650) bikes will fit?

MookieBlaylock 12-10-2007 04:14 PM

so many modern bikes shift like shit, some bmws included. Euro 3, closed throttle fuel cut or whatever. So as much as i like the looks of it i will wait. Homey dont go for no snatchy clunk.

AngryRed 12-10-2007 04:43 PM

My 06 Ducati Monster has some E3 BS like that. Runs like a pissed off rodeo bull below 5k RPM. Technology is getting better, but most of the new bikes will be subject to these restrictions sooner or later. Even Jap bikes will all be FI by 2010 I hear rumor of.

ShortOnSkill 12-10-2007 05:06 PM

No time to ride for the next 12 months. Going to watch the 800gs. If it's not exactly what I want, will go for two bikes, one of which will be KTM's 690 Adv.

I would LOVE an 800 GS with an air cooled boxer engine. (or air and oil if we have to). Don't fancy a chain much though.

Other than that... what was the question again?
