Cam indexing 950?

Has anyone had the cams indexed on their 950? I have a Ducati 996 and had a very good race shop in Dallas do a 6000 mile service including the indexing. I was surprised to find out that the 4 cams were off 7, 10, 10 and 12 degrees from the factory. Afterwards I was blown away by how much better it ran. The engine ran sooo much smoother, idled smoother and pulled harder. My results may have been so good because there was so much error in the stock cam timing. I don't know if all Ducati 4-valve motors are this far out of spec but it might be something to check on the 950. I was sold and will have any multicam engine I buy in the future checked by a reputable mechanic.

Just my Euro.0162 worth.

What was the name of the shop?

Hmmm.... Good point. I know 'precision cam timing' is done on LC4s too. The same should go for the multi-cam LC8 engine I guess. Worth some investigation! :thumb

That would be Jeff Nash at www.advancedmotorsports.com
His reputation is so good among Ducatisti that I hauled the bike all the way from Little Rock and stayed in a hotel overnight to have him massage my engine. Great work and a great guy...from Austrailia.

I actually have my 640 at Sommers ATM having it ported and polished and a general service w/ valve adjustment, jetting update and before and after dyno runs. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow!! :jive :ricky
