The KDX thread
I did not see a dedicated thread to these popular trail machines, so I thought that I would attempt to start one. I have an '04 200, with a BD dual sport kit on it. It performes much better in the tight trails we have here in New England than my DR650.
This is my 2nd "H" series KDX, and the only bike I have ever purchased twice. I like them that much. Any other KDX riders here? |
Had one - sold it - wish I would have kept it.....:D
|
I've owned 2 of them. A 200 and a 220. The only reason I got rid of the 220 is because the USFS is closing all of the trails around here and you can't get around without a license plate. :cry:cry:cry:cry

I have a '98 220 with plated with a Revloc clutch. With the auto clutch it is like having a trail bike and trials bike in one package.
http://inlinethumb21.webshots.com/40...600x600Q85.jpg It is a great trail bike the way it is set up, but living in a large Metro area I don't ride it as much as I should, especially since I bought a WR250R. I guess I will have to take mine for spin this weekend. |
Kdx 200
I had a 1994 and a 1993 KDX200 for my daughters. Sold 1 when she got a CRF450r and the other stayed in the stable until I lent it to a friend. Friend's nut job neighbor decided to burn his shed down so all I have left is the engine lump in the frame. Sorry to see it go. :cry:cry It was a perfect little trail machine.

I had a '86 model. It was a great trail bike, best of both worlds between 2-stroke and 4-stroke.
What was the last year they offered the KDX in America? |
Hmmm...2007?

Simmons - Your bike looks great! What kind of range do you get with the IMS tank?
|
My '04 needs some goodies, so I am slowly working on it. So far, I have obtained XR400 fork springs and a V-Force reed cage, and I re-valved the forks a bit (removed two shims). My '96 had a RAD valve, an FMF woods pipe, a Fredette chain guide, and a Ceet seat cover.
I need a pipe! |

I had a 175 should never have sold that bike but a guy offered me to much for it. I still have a 450. Great bike. No place to ride close by so thinking of selling it. Lots of places to ride 4 wheelers. So I am into them now. but the kdx bikes are great.

LED Tail Light
Do any stock tailight KDX owners have an LED solution?
:norton |
I had an 86,87,89,95,97,2001, the last 2 being 220's. Rode the heck out of all of them, doing bottom-end rebuilds and so on. Raced them also - even took a first place hare scramble Vet B on a KDX200, LOL. I am presently gathering parts for a project '86 bike that will be fitted with USD forks and rear disk.
KDX's are still one of the best trail bikes ever made, IMO, best for tighter trails and having the benefit of super low maintenance and long life. The E model (preceding the H) had a torquier engine that some prefer (me included).:lol3 |
Greetings,
I picked up a 2004 220 with only a few hours on it this past Fall, and am preparing to install a Wiseco piston kit (for peace of mind) and auto-clutch on it before Spring. ktm950se |
