From Moscow to Rybachiy peninsula
We had done this trip a few years ago, but I thought it will be interesting to read about another russian RR... Sorry for my not perfect English in advance.
We had three weeks of vacation. We went on three motorcycles from Moscow, Russia. Yamaha XTZ660 Tenere, Yamaha TT250Raid and Honda 250 Degree. As usual, it was a lot of problems before the departure, so we did not get enough sleep. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7143576.jpg From left to right: Tanya and her Degree, Ivan with Tenere, some local girl, me and Pavel on his Kawasaki VN400. Pavel planned to go with us, but he could not to go with us. Tanya is one of crazy russian bike girls, she came from Krasnodar to Moscow on her 250 cc bike. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7144210.jpg Near a local tyre service. I have pierced my rear tube. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7144424.jpg Near Rostov Velikiy stella: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7144659.jpg On Rostov`s monastery wall. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7145130.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7145358.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7145526.jpg We arrived Yaroslavl city. It`s the oil plant as the background. Take a look at the Russian motorcycle licence plate - it have the same size as plates for tractors. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7163969.jpg The village Bukhalovo. It means "Drinking of alcoholic beverages" in English. As you can see, some Russians (may be hunters?) first drink, than shoot at road signs. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7164559.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7164614.jpg Some Russians have the business of trading mushrooms or raspberries at a side of a road. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7164850.jpg We arrived Vologda city. Inside Wild Winds MC clubhouse: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165057.jpg Our camp in a morning: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165467.jpg It was rainy. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165490.jpg The Kuk`s spring. The water looks like boiling. There was the tradition in ancient times to dip a newborn baby into this spring. If the water stops "boiling", than a child will be dead soon. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165654.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165533.jpg Than we met a couple of guys from Saint-Petersburg, they had going to Vologda on their IZH motorcycle. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165690.jpg At the gas station near Onezhskoye lake: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165823.jpg Anoter that day`s meeting - a couple of guys from St. Petersbourg on two BMW F650GS: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7165892.jpg Some abandoned wooden buildings near Poshekhonye - Vologda region`s district center. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7166004.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7166299.jpg We arrived Karelia republic, one of Russian regions. In the past, Karelya was the part of the Finland, as I know. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7169588.jpg |
Fascinating ruins!
What is "Rybachiy?" Near Kaliningrad? |
There was a new to me weather phenomenon in Karelia - it was sunny, and there was some small raindrops at the same time. It was because of the high air humidity - there are a lot of lakes in Karelia.
There are wooden roadsigns at the side of the road sometimes also: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7169894.jpg And there was a lot of wild strawberry at the roadside. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7169976.jpg A common russian country road: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7170292.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7170519.jpg The church near the beginning of the White sea-Baltic sea channel. It`s restricted to photograph the channel itself, unfortunately... http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7170887.jpg We have rode that day till late, so we just turned from the main road and set our tents. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7170996.jpg http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7171379.jpg Waiting for Taniya. Why girls are so slowly usually? http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7171585.jpg Somewhere at the road to Murmansk: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7171724.jpg Getting speed tickets. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7172111.jpg Just some water at the roadside. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7172293.jpg The stella near Arctic circle. It is about 10 kilometers from actually Arctic circle, as I heard. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7172432.jpg |
Klay, no. It`s the northest part of Kolya peninsula, the most northest point of European continental Russia.

We wanted to stop just near that place, on the shore of some lake. But heavily loaded Tenere jammed into the swamp.

It`s some trees and grass there now, in the past there was only the naked ground. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7173916.jpg http://www.hibiny.ru/images/gallery/...a1ff62c6b6.jpg Our friend Alexander met us in Murmansk. http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/f.../f_7174302.jpg |
