The On-Going San Diego Hijinks Thread - Back-Country Adventure Group Rides
We had an incredible time kicking off the First-Annual No-Name Ride (aka Danscape Unlimited Inaugural Ride). This thread will serve as the on-going ride planning thread (hopefully) for years to come.
The 2/11/2012 ride photos start right about...here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...737745&page=34 The 5/5/2012 ride photos starts here: http://www.socaldualsport.com/media/photos/sdbca-2 ***NEW RIDE*** It's time to get the old gang together again. Dates: October 20 and 21, 2012 From your cruise director, Afry: "Sign up is open! Go here: http://sdbca3.eventbrite.com/# So far we have about 20 riders saying they are in but please resister so we can sell your information to the Chinese government....just kidding - no commercial use and we are NOT sharing this information with anyone - it just helps us organize the event. -Afry" <IFRAME title="San Diego Back Country Adventure - Oct. 2012" height=600 src="http://www.dualsportmaps.com/embedMap.html?id=105719" width=800></IFRAME> Check out the brand new Southern California dual-sport riding resource: http://www.socaldualsport.com I will keep the ride info up-to-date on ADVRider, but SoCalDualSport is making easy work of keeping track of all you FFs! No registration is required and it's a breeze to register for the ride. Giddyup! |

Here's an alternate idea for the Ranchita to 78 track.
Straight through Ranchita down S-22 to turn off for Culp. Up Culp, down Jasper to Grapevine. <IFRAME SRC="http://www.dualsportmaps.com/embedMap.html?id=102553" TITLE="San Diego & Anza Big Bike Loop (ver2)" width="800" height="600"></IFRAME> |

To me, that ride is exactly what a bike rally should be. No trailers, no trucks, just a bunch of riders and bikes. I'm bummed I missed the campout, I certainly won't next time! Awesome! Thanks CA Stu |
I'll recommend incorporating the Palomar Divide Truck Trail (on the northeast side of Palomar off 79) as there's less traffic, more of the sort of dirt we're looking for and the route is interesting & scenic. Starting/ending in Temecula for this.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17675817&postcount=6 Also, IIRC Blake mentions the road across from the Warner Springs glider port (Lost Creek?) which is a favorite of mine. The first few miles are paved jeep trail being very narrow & twisty... also little traffic and scenic. I haven't yet taken that road over the ridge to the north. There's a nice, unimproved campground right where the pavement ends as the road crosses the ridge (Lost Indian Campground?) Palm Springs and the Cahuilla desert is just a little farther north (as is Joshua Tree) but I don't know of a short way down. :ear |
