Left hand rear brake

Hi, all. Forum searches aren't giving me what I'm looking for:

I'd like to move the rear brake controls to the left hand position. I have a Rekluse clutch, and was thinking to merely raise the stock clutch lever out of the way. I've read about the Clake system, but I think I'd rather have two separate controls.

Who's performed this operation? Are you glad you did? Can you tell me what suppliers you used for parts? Maybe a few photos?

Thanks!

I havent done it so I have no opinion on it, but here's some threads on the subject.

I have not done it on an Adv, but have done on my own 200EXC, 450SXS, 520EXC, 250EXCF. So much better control over the rear brake. Going down steep hills, skid steering, walking alongside over bogs etc, its all good.

I use a combination LHRB and footbrake by adapting the rear master cylinder to get fluid fed through it from the LHRB.

For the actual LHRB on the bars I use a scooter rear brake or the Brembo clutch master cylinder as fitted to later KTM EXC/SX models.

I have fitted dozens of Rekluses and LHRB since 2002.

Thanks for the replies, Brents347, Peanuts. I think I have enough information now to give this a shot.

Do you have any updates on your Left Hand Rear Brake? Was it a go or a no go?

A lot of stunt riders do this. You could check out stuntlife.com.

torinreality What was your final solution?

The new Rekluse dual actuated left hand brake kit for the small bikes works pretty well, and retains the use of the foot brake. Depends on what you intend to use it for, but I wouldnt count on that as a stand alone system to stop an LC8 which weighs twice as much as the thumper it was designed for. That left hand brake kit is off a mountain bike, it uses a bicycle brake line, its not braided stainless, so under pressure it expands and you get fade. Also Im not sure that Rekluse master cylinder could develop enough system pressure to work the rear caliper enough to lock the back wheel if needed.

So let's see if something good comes from this tread...

I still couldn't do this mod.

I would like to have LHRB + a very small clutch lever (1 finger) + no foot rear brake.....

I think that removing the foot rear brake get the mod easier, because you just need the master lever....a longer line to calliper and that's it.

No problem with pressure going in the reservoir of the rear foot reservoir.......

Can anyone find a good master lever for the rear brake of an eavy LC8?
Is the Magura master (changing the OR for dot instead of mineral oil) strog/big enough to brake?! The size is 10,5.

Hope we can reach a good final solution.

You might try this product- excellent quality: http://www.accossatousa.com/index_files/Page442.htm & they might be able to help you piece this together.

I've recently become enamored with THE CLAKE (CLutch And braKE)

http://www.clake.com.au/

I'm going to try it on my 450 first.

Someone told me that I could buy a EXC master "pump" that works with Hydraulic oil and connect it to the brake.

http://www.beta.boano.com/cgi-bin/bo...eta_1_1470.jpg

That's quite easy ok, but if I would like to maintein the "pedal Pump" I need a piece that is normally sold with original kit Rekluse LHRB...

It would be easier to buy the original kit if it was available for LC8's...

The Clake system is expensive and not easy to use I guess, I've seen the one with two levers....looks like a nightmare...

I am looking for a LHRB setup. Is your comment above based on actual experience or is it typical interwebs conjecture? I've heard lots of good things about the CLAKE so far.
