YSS rear shocks? Which model and dealer recommend?

And what size?

Their website is terrible but i like the look and design of some of their shocks. They will go on a R75/5.
I am thinking of a Z-302 or the Z-362 gas shocks.

Is anybody running YSS shocks?

I don't want anything super expensive (over $500).

I'd love to hear your experience, and tips. Thanks!

I am running YSS shocks on my 1993 R100LT mono ... Best $500 I have spent on it .. not only improved handling and comfort .. I am sure its the reason that I am squeezing extra life out of my tyres . :clap

Seems like this guy is the dealer. I'll call him tomorrow.

Hey! Missed you at Willow this year. I broke so I drank beer. Let me know how they are, my buddy with an R80 needs some budget shocks. BTW I have a guy in SD who can rebuild older shocks.

E302

I have the E302 model on my R90/6.

Only had them about a week but I'm happy with them so far.

They're replacing some Hagons and I like them better.

Could be that it's the fact that they're "set up" for my weight and the Hagons were bought used from someone 20 lbs heavier and he had him made for his weight.

I was trying to sort through the YSS information and it seems that the 302 models are all the same core and that each step up (and increase in price) adds a feature or two.

E302s have only preload adjustment.

More $ = rebound dampening adjustment.

More $$ still = adjustable compression dampening and ride height adjustment.

Mine came right from EPM Performance Imports (Klaus Huenecke) and they shipped within a week of them having all my information.

Hey Mike! Yeah, sorry i missed you as well. Life/work has been crazy this near. Not enough 'play time'. As a result, my bike build is going slower then i had hoped. But i have some good momentum now.

pkboxer - thanks for the reply. I was originally looking into the E-302 model. Do you remember what mm size you got?
I think i'd need the equivalent of 13 or 13.5 inches...?

I'm going to do some calling around today.... and will post back my findings.

Shock install

Here's some shots of the shocks, compare to the Boge and Hagon shocks.

Just FYI

I spoke to Tom at Rubber Chicken.

He was great to talk to. He recommended the Z362 in a length of 320mm for SWB and 330mm for LWB.

The 362 is only $50 more then the 302 but you have more control of your dampening, preload, and you can extend the shocks an additional 10mm if needed. The 302 doesn't have as much tune-ability.

He asked my weight and will set me up with the appropriate spring.

Looking forward to seeing them in person...

They should be here in a week or so.

I obtained a YSS from Tom Cutter for my K75S - he made same type of inquiries regarding weight (and weight distribution) and type of riding. The end result was a shock that gave a good ride.

I've also been happy with the Hagon shocks that I obtained from Dave Quinn for various airheads.
