Another Bosch fuel pump 69222 installed

replaced the fuel pump in my 1995 r1100gs recently.

pump is $65 from advance auto part number 69222
$20 coupon code ES123

$49 with tax

fits well, much quieter than stock, lifetime warranty even!

replaced fuel filter in tank also, was BMW part date coded 2003, it would drip fuel from the input, but not from the output, I think it was clogged.

also bought some 5/16" brake line at the auto parts store and bent a "U" shape to replace the $32 BMW rubber hose.

all in all its working well, bike no longer pings like it was, I do think it was starving for fuel for the last couple of years ( and getting progressively worse)

currently I have gone back to the stock rose colored CCP, and removed the Ice II air device, to get a new baseline to experiment with.

thanks to Vintagerider, Roger_04rt, crackhead, poolside, JJ and everyone else that has taken the time to document, and share the knowledge on here!

Keep your suction screen receipt to validate the lifetime warranty. Great maintenance for just about all 11xx out there at this point. An ounce of prevention...

They are small enough to carry as a spare if venturing off to the dark continent. The Bosch kit is likely to be discontinued as the cars for which they are designed become obs. Not a bad idea for inmates to pick one up now, especially at this price and while still available.

edit: Ordering tips: Rockauto.com great to deal with. 30 day Rock warranty plus Bosch warranty. If ordering from Advance then you need the a "car" application. Read the terms of Adv "lifetime warranty" carefully. If carrying as a spare where oem is installed then carry Posi-Lock barrels. Soldering on the supplied pigtail socket plug to the pump plate is obviously preferred but Posi-Lock barrels should work as they are nylon (not tried). As already noted, the suction screen for the 69222 has a different attachment than the oem screen. Be sure to order one.

durability: These are lightweight pumps. Have not experienced any failures but carrying a spare is reasonable because of the lower weight and size. Carry in air-tight tube to prevent bearing corrosion. Lower current draw is another advantage.

Hmm where did you find the one for $44

Going to that website, the only one I could find was for $73 even after the discount code? Here:

Am I missing something? :ear

I just checked, apparently the price increased

the pump is now $80 , it was $65 when I bought it
code ES123 still gets you a $20 savings though.

not sure why its more for you, possibly location makes a difference?

here is a screen capture that I just looked up.

Check the site again over the next few days and the price may drop back to $65. I came across this a few weeks ago and the price was 84.99 for 2 or 3 days... checked again and it was back at 64.99.

RFK 09-12-2012 02:04 PM

Another option...

I came across this deal on Ebay... it's actually $3 cheaper than the Advance Auto deal when you factor in the tax and shipping. When I got mine from advance, it came to $58.59 shipped to my door. I just picked up one from this ad for a spare tank project I am doing.
