2004 250 EXC Mods?
I just picked up a like new 2004 250 EXC. Bike is in amazing condition. Never down and still has the original tires on it! This is my first venture into the two stroke world and I'm pretty stoked (stroked?). I need to swap out the goofy silencer but what other must do mods should I consider?

Get the power valve springs from ktm. There are a red yellow and green springs. They change when the power valve opens. There is also a bolt which sits on the spring that you can tighten for even more adjustability.

I have a 2006 250sx but i changed my pipes to pro circuit. silencer: 304 (not the shorty. The shorty is loud, but more low end)

expansion chamber: platinum 2(procircuit's equivalent of the fmf gnarly)

Rebuild your power valve with new o-rings and stuff. Check you squash band.

You can also get the new v force 4 read block for your bike when it comes time to replace the reed pedals.

You should also get the n3ew needle for your carb. I think it is out of a 2002 yz250, but i am not sure.

It's critical on a ktm to have the rite spring for you weight.

When you do a fork rebuild use skf seals, they are super slippery.

Then there is the 170 mm hole mod for the forks. You take the inner tube and 170 mm from the top you bore a hole (google the mod for the hole size). When your forks axle hole points up so should the hole you are going to drill.

You can also make a set of air sub tanks for your forks (google is your best friend). After my suspension rebuild i am also going to make myself a pair.

If you have any more questions ask away.

Probably need to replace the tires, even if the tread looks ok. 5/6 years is usually the maximum time tires last.

Um, I don't know if thats considered a mod, and you probably already know about tire life but I've already typed it, so I'm posting it.
