wheel - sprocket dampener question - instability
A buddy told me, that all 2 strokers have or should have rubber dampener between the rear sprocket and the rear wheel.
Now I recall that my old Gamma had it, my Jawa had it, saw it on MZ-s...
I wanted to improve the look and lower my Jawa350TS, so I put in a 15 coll wheel from a small 125cc 4 stroke "cruiser". Looks good. :evil
But there is no dampener, and I experience instability when using the engine brake. This might be the reason why? Without the dampener it's like this?
(other casue can be the much wider tires than original. (Originally it has 100-110/90/18 rear, 90/90/18 front. Right now I have: 130/90/15 rear and 110/90/18 front. Good for sidecar, but I feel it handles crap when riding solo.)

All those dampers are therefor is to cushion the shock load on the sprocket when the bike starts its power stroke. I cant see how that will cause instability. My 250sx has no stability issues on tar and it has no cushion, mind you it is a mx bike. But road racing 2T remove them to save weight and there is no stability issues there.
All those dampers do is provide a smoother ride on the tar.
When was the last time you replaced your steering stem bearings and wheel bearings?
I had a problem of major instability on my 250sx, but was caused buy wheel bearings and a friend's instability was caused by steering stem bearings.
I have checked the front and back thoroughfully when I first felt it. And it actually started after I put on those tyres. I set the wheels myself to run true and straight, no issue there. Bearing seemed ok too.
Will try with a different front tyre (rear is a sucker size. :/ ) and we'll see.
