Las Vegas Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours
Hi-
Wife and I are flying out to Arizona to visit friends over Christmas. Does anyone have feed back on the helicopter tours to the Canyon? Is any one tour operator better than another? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!! What are sites NOT to miss? Thanks in advance. Steve 09 F650GS Twin |
How many days do you have? I don't have any scoop on one helicopter tour vs another, but from Phoenix you probably want to drive up and catch one at the Grand Canyon airport. If you do that, don't miss the side trip to Sedona on the way up or back. You can make a nice loop out of Flagstaff by taking 180 to the Canyon, then 64 along the rim, then 89 back into Flag.
Our winter weather is going to make you wish you had that 650 along with you. |
Did an airplane tour outta Vegas. Was ok but was overcast that day so the colors were washed out

went to a ranch called the Bar 10 http://www.bar10.com/ that has a airstrip that folks fly into then ride quads down to a overlook.. seemed the plane took a cool route..

Maverick Helicopters right across from Mandalay Bay, by far the best outfit going (and best safety record). Walk in, ask to fly with Jim (my best friend and assistant chief pilot). Tell him Kendrick sent you...

I was just there on Monday. Spectacular! I was in the truck with family. Next time will be on a bike.

Maverick Helicopters
+1 for Mavericks. Founded by a Vietnam Helicopter PIlot who flew with the 175th Assault Helicopter Co.
The BEST and safest helicopter co. in Vegas. |
+2 on Maverick
We took one from Grand Canyon airport, by far the best way to see the canyon even though they are limited to certain flight paths and altitudes. If you fly with them out of Vegas they can go outside the Nat'l Park boundary and actually land in the canyon, also they can take you to the Skywalk on the North Rim instead of driving the long ass dirt road to get to it. |
