Waffle House run from San Diego to Phoenix

Waffle House run from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>San Diego</st1:place></st1:City> to <st1:City><st1:place>Phoenix</st1:place></st1:City>.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Not too much to say here. I have had a craving for the Waffle House since I can usually only get it when I visit family in <st1:country-region><st1:place>Georgia</st1:place></st1:country-region>, and the closest ones are in the <st1:City><st1:place>Phoenix</st1:place></st1:City> area. It was time to get off my ass and ride! Took the week off from work to relax and ride. Monday morning I headed out with a stop in Calexico to take care of some stuff there, then continued out to <st1:City><st1:place>Phoenix</st1:place></st1:City> to eat! After the Waffle House I headed to Tonapah for the night. Up early Tuesday morning for a great ride home. Stopped in Quartzite for breakfast, quick stop in Glamis, and a break in Ocotillo Wells.
<o:p></o:p>
740 miles traveled
8 gas stops
13 gallons of gas used
60.6mpg Average

<o:p>Will post my route info a little later after I go pull the GPS off the bike.</o:p>

Scattered, smothered, covered baby!

Great post. Thanks for the photos.

I wouldn't make a Waffle House run. But, you're inspiring me to make a run to Neptune's Net in Malibu. I haven't done that in a while.

Next time, post when you're coming out. We'll meet for waffles. Have a safe trip home!

I didn't get that crazy or go with the chili since I was unsure of plumbing facility would be available that night!

How was the ride out of the valley which route did u feel was safer? Was the wind blowing in palm springs area? How did the bike fair, planing this ride in a month any notes tips?

Mattbastard 11-22-2012 07:47 PM

It's good to see someone else who's desire to clog their veins and ambition for a long ride go hand in hand.

I'm feelin' In-n-Out, and I live by Milwaukee... :evil

Hi there,

I skipped going through the Palm Springs area and went around the south side of the Salton Sea on the 78 west from Blythe to Ramona. But the winds in Palm Springs and along the 10 can be bad at times. Rode through there once on my SV650 last year with 40+mph gusts and it wasn't pretty.

This was the first long ride I have done on this bike and I was very happy with it. Plus it was the first time to try out my new luggage and the new Seat Concepts seat that I got a few months ago. And I must say the seat was a 1000x better than the stock seat. The factory seat was an ass breaker on 300+ mile days and the Seat Concepts was great for a 425 mile day followed by a 325 mile day.

Where are you going and coming from on your trip? I'm sure many here could give some tips.

Thanks for the info I will be riding from scottsdale to orange county north part. By the sounds of it a windshield and seat would be a wise investment I have a F800gs stock seat which is go for a 5 mile ride. Would u say to take the 8 or the 10 there? Any pointers or side trails. Would be nice. I hear parts of the 10 are really bad to be on a bike but the 60 seems like a fun ride just a lot of trucks
