1150 GSA mpg

Hi all, I am looking at purchasing a 02 GSA with extremely low miles.
Just curious what kind of MPG I can expect as a average or Freeway @70?
Thanks, Tom

Around 40. Depends on fuel quality.

kubiak 11-22-2012 09:27 AM

i think i averaged around 40mpg on my 03 1150gs.

Sox Fan 11-22-2012 11:15 AM

Yep. I get about 40 overall from my 04.

SJSharkfan 11-22-2012 11:26 AM

35-40 mpg depending on load and throttle habits.

larryboy 11-22-2012 11:29 AM

I get 42 on the highway and 30 in the dirt with...carburators.

The BMW spec at 75 mph steady speed is 41 mpg running gasoline or about 39 mpg running E10. Your mileage may vary. ;)

Don't be surprised if you get less.

When I took the BMW spec at 75 mph and extrapolated it to 80 mph I came up with 36 mpg gasoline and 35 mpg for E10.

Imperial Gallons: 45 in city and 51 on trips

Recyclizer mod installed.

2002 Adventure. 44mpg @ 70mph pre-ethonal days. Right around 40 mph these days with E10. Drops to 35 give or take above 80 mph loaded for camping.

spagthorpe 11-22-2012 07:11 PM

My 04 got 40mpg always, regardless of where or how ridden. So far, mileage has been a lot lower on my 06, even though it seems to run very well. Still figuring it out.

vintagerider 11-22-2012 07:11 PM

Hi Tom, 33-45. Really drops off above 60 mph. Winter fuel, riding below 3,000 ft, rider position, use of high drag lubes, low state of tune, old O2 sensor and plugs all cut economy. 1100's are better on fuel, 50 mpg common.

Tell us more about the prospect 1150. "Extremely low miles" on an 1150 isn't necessarily a good thing imo. Don't apply too much premium there. Could still have much maintenance in store. Should have more than 45k just to demonstrate lack of build defects. Actual condition is more important than odo. Documented 50-75k from exp BMW rider might have new rotors, tires, batt, m cyl, clutch slave, fuel pump, hoses, cables, free of dry seals, ect.

50mpg at 60mph here. Much above that speed and it likes a drink.:freaky

tigertom 11-23-2012 10:41 AM

It is a 02 with less thn 3000 miles and has had a level 3 service done. Areoflow shield and all 3 cases?
8900 which is high for book value but in new condition vs new is half?
What do you guys think?
Tom
