American Made Airhead Farkles
Being one to try as I might to buy American (sans HD) whenever I can, here is a list of Yankee Vendors making Farkles for your German Bike.

BoxerMetal, Chris makes all kinds of Custom Airhead parts like airbox eliminators and Acewell Speedo Dashboards.

Twin Headlight Ernie, Maker of the strongest toughest badass Bash Plate that you could ever hang off your GS.

Jesse Luggage, Just did a special batch of Old School Bags for the R100GS

Hardwaregirl, check spellin, this little lady makes a Killer GS Solo Seat Rack.

Beemer Buddies, Handgrip Wraps.

HPMGuy, Top Triple for Airhead GS

Toaster Tan, Top Triple for Airhead GS

Flip-A-Lever, New and Improved Throttle Screw.

Feel Free to add more and Thank You for Buying American:clap

Don't forget HPMGuy's GS driveshaft.

And is Flip-a-Lever still around? I searched for one a while ago and couldn't find a real webpage to buy one...

*edit* I see it now, but looks like the current model requires a cruiser style grip.

*double edit* maybe the new cruiser bracket-thingy is optional. They have some K bikes listed, no Airheads though. I think this deserves a call to straighten out!

Cycleworks a makes some good (and cheap) tools for some special airhead applications.

Here's HPM Guy's website:

I like tools
Would it be appropriate to include those who make tools for the old airheads? Like, and .
edit: AW beat me to it.

Only requirement is MADE IN AMERICA and Airhead related or useful.

Thanks for playing along.

Oil Temp Gauge
Hey folks,
Any idea where I could find a good temp gauge for my 93 GSPD?
Been searching igh and low for something maybe bar mounted but no dice.

oil temp gauge
I refused to pay the BMW price, even used one's are expensive for my Airhead wallet. I ended up going to Auto Zone and replacing them with VDO gauges. I am running their oil pressure gauge and their volt meter in my RS dash board. Who needs a clock... time to ride and enjoy.

A couple of my faves:

Flying T Pot
Carl Santora
Excellent Airhead racks, sdiestands and farkles

Harmonizer Carb Balancer
Far Horizon
(no company website, but here is their ADV Vendor's thread):

Hannigan Fairings
Handcrafted Fiberglas fairings

Bill Mayer Saddles
"Any Bike, Any Butt"

The two electrical guys:

Motorrad Electrik

Euro Moto Electric

(for both vendors, only some of there stuff is made in the US)

There's also Sargent Seats and Corbin.

I predict this thread will be over in less than 24 hrs. I think it's pretty much finished now. There just isn't that much made in the USA any more and Airheads while maybe a healthy market they are not a large market.

Exhaust systems?
Anyone doing brake discs?

Kai Ju 12-18-2012 10:31 PM

I'm going to be self serving and include the made in the USA funnels that I sell here on ADV rider because they work so well on Airheads.

Like the above poster I would love to find a "cheap" solution for brake rotors.

Bill Harris 12-19-2012 02:37 AM

And I'll suggest that Kai's funnels are most excellent and versatile. Not an audience shill, just a satisfied customer. :deal

I know that adv is a US based forum, however many of the parts made for our bikes are made all over the world.

The Rick Motorrad electric 450w alternators are made in Taiwan by a company called emerald isle, they also produce the ND starter motors and replacement bean cans.

Most of the endurolast product lines are made outside of the US, including Poland (valeo starter motors), China endurolast own brand starters, Germany (Sacse ignition components) I don't know where the endurolast alternators come from, probably a mixture of Chinese and Italien parts.

I have nothing against against any of the products above and have used all except for the eurduralast alternators.

I suspect that a list of US made parts might be quite short, of small Artisan type products such as the Grok harmonisers and Toaster Tan products.

The situation here in the uk is fairly similar
