Can we join OC if we have spoked 19" X 17" wheels on our SM?

Can we join OC if we update our SM with Canyon/Adventure spoked wheels?

I sold my SE and got a SM because I was riding mostly street and was unhappy with the single front SE brake and no crash bar options etc.

I miss Orange Crush . . . . And would be willing to update my SM with spoked wheels if I could return to OC etc.
I understand Woodys is working on SM Canyon Dancers wheel sets.

I have already converted my SM to SMT:

Here are a couple inmates that have gone to spoked 19" X 17" wheels on their SM:

For comparison(1190R) w/19" front wheel. I prefer my SM carbs over high-tech Gismo's

My opinion: Bring it

Locul even went for 21" and 18" wired wheels in an RC8 to get an entry. :D

Haha merry something for everyone. :D

Funny, that's my spoked SM sitting in the trees in the first post.

Traditionallly, SM's and the like have always been banned over to the street thread, but with the new 1190 Adv standard on 19/17 wheels, I see very little difference between it and the SM on 19/17's.

Bring it.

Please confirm front hub spec

Please confirm what you did on the front 19" hub: did you use the 990A hub/rotors with 5mm less bite in the SM calipers, or did you use a 690 SMC hub with spacers in between the rotors and hub. If so, what are the specs on the spacers?

Nice bike! Looks like a KTM Off-Road V-Twin to me:

That was a stock 950 Adv. hub. I don't recall waht I did for rotor width spacing, but I made custom axle spacers and then used some little spacers under the stock SM non-foating calipers to make the stock SM rotors fit with full brake pad bite. As I recall, these spacers were just 3mm thick.

So, stock 950 Adv. 19" wheel, stock 950SM brakes and rotors with some minor spacers.

Thanks for the info . . .I though the 950SM rotor bolt pattern was diiferent than the 950A rotor.

Thats the handy thing with radial calipers. Only requires a quick swap of spacers and bolts to change disc size.

Nope. Same. Here is a picture thar shows the caliper spacers, just under the word Brembo.

And I remember now, the width of the SM rotor spacing was larger so I machined some full spacer rings for each rotor.

Any SM riders near Denver. Zach needs front hub specs: overall spacing, and also if the spacers are the same on both sides of the wheel, axle diameter, inside width between rotor's and rotor width.

They look like 950 Adv discs?

Hmm, they DO look like Adv discs! And since SM discs would have been flaoting, I think they must be.. But I remember spacing the calipers (and you can see the spacers in the pic), so the Adv. disc is bigger than the SM?

I'll check...

Yep, adv discs are 300mm and SM's are 305mm so know I honestly don't know. Damn my memory sucks.

Yes, SM rotor spacing is COMPLETELY different. Don't kno what I was thinking.

I can answer some of these questions, I have an unbuilt SM wheel in the garage that I can look at/measure tomorrow.

Axles are the same diameter from the Adv to the SM because when I mounted SM wheeels to my Adv I used the stock Adv axle with a stock SM wheel. I can get other dimentions tomorrow, but as I recall the 2 spacers are completely different. Then again, we know about my memory...
