Alternative Fuel Pump?
Has anyone out there used replacement a fuel pump from Highflow Performance (refer link below)? if so have you had any problems? After a a web search I cannot find any reference to this product.
I found this site whilst searching for a replacement fuel pump for my 800GS. This is the first company I have found that sells the pump only (not assembly) and therefore I want to buy one. My current pump,on a 2009 bike overheats.
Any experience appreciated.
I like the line where it says: "Designed for use with E85/ ethanol"
I've not heard of anyone actually trying one, but hopefully some field reports will trickle in...
On the bench
Got one on the bench to go in this weekend. Test will be the ride to Phillip Island for the Island Classic in 2 weeks.
Bike is a '09 with 64xxxkm of mixed riding inc daily commute. Will report my experience...

I fitted one about 3 months ago, no problems up to now, haven't done many k's though, due to work commitments
I got it off the web site..
Bought it via their e-bay shop... Received it within 2.5 weeks which I thought was impressive as I ordered it over the Xmas period.
I'm thinking to do the same setup as guzzimike - just need to decide which filter to use... Leaning towards a Holley with 1/4" barb adapters

Just make sure it's an EFI filter.
I'm pretty sure the fuel lines on the F800 are 5/16"
The Holley filter that's been kicked around for use on one of the threads is this Holley, rated at 10 microns:
Yep - I went for the 100MMPG Holley Filter (10 Micron and for use between pump and injectors),
Now I just have to work out which barbs to get - Mike, I thought I saw in your other pump threat that some-one stated the lines are 6mm internal and 11mm external dia?, 5/16 is about 8mm if I remember correctly?
I suppose I better pull the line off and have a look, unless someone can confirm the fuel line size for me...
Obviously I didnt get to do it over the weekend - same as Mike - work in the way...

Had a look... It says BMW 6x11 fuel c on the line, the bit of fuel line that came with the pump is also 6mm ,
Guess that means 1/4" is the go...?
Found the 100 gph holley from a mob in south Australia - $69 plus shipping ...
A word of caution for 'over heating fuel pump'.
This can be a symptom of;
fuel flow restriction e.g. blocked fuel filter
fuel pump control electronics fault - running the pump flat out all the time.
Other sources for fuel pumps -
Take your pump to your local;
'speed shop' , car performance shop,
EFI injector cleaning/repair place
'car bone yard' , car wrecker
and see if they have something like it.
It arrived!... 1x10 micron fuel filter, looking very nice,
Got it in less than 24 hours since order!
Should get connectors tomorrow,
This should go well with the yellow/black!
Thought to do an interim update...
Had the replacement pump and Holley inline filter installed for a week now and it's holding up well..
Old pump came out looking ok, mesh filter clean.
Fuel filter was not completely blocked but blowing on it showed it to be restricted.
Pic below is the fuel and what came out if the filter... Not reverse washed, just fuel tipped out...
My suggestion would be to check those filters, it will eventually cost you the pump if left unchecked.
So ended up getting a pair of powerflow 1/4" barb connectors, internal dia. Is a little more than 3mm, same as tank spigot.
Went on the Holley no probs, install same as guzzimike except that I placed the filter on top of the tank in front of the shock, hidden be design- not on purpose, pipe work and filter shape made that just easy.
So the verdict after as week's commuting and 4 tanks of fuel riding down to Phillip island yesterday...
Power delivery is crisper and throttle response is a bit better than before change.
Biggest difference noticed is in the fuel consumption, it's dropped by almost 1l/100km's. :eek1
My theory is the new pump and unrestricted filter is delivering fuel to the injectors more reliably & with proper pressure , making them work as advertised!
Consumption levels are back to what is was around the 20k km's mark when the bike was run-in...
I keep track of the fuel consumption as u record fuel costs and km's for work... I noticed it started increasing around 35k km, ignored it but at 40k km with it rising asked the dealer to look at it,..... Verdict was that everything was in spec...
Asked again at 50k and 60k km to look at it as it was still rising... Same answer...
Now back to "normal" and consistently so over the last 4 tanks...
Only change the pump/filter...
All I say is check those filters...
