The legendary "patron" of Yamaha Motor France died today. :cry

Racer, innovator, boss, legend.

He recentrly sold his racing bikes collection just to donate the amount for spine and head injuries investigation.

Just heard it in a by-note during the German coverage of today's Dakar stage. Couldn't and didn't want to believe it until I found it on Ingo Löchert's web-site ,too at the end of Jean Claude Olivier's biography. And it's just been a simple accident in traffic.
A very sad day for all followers of desert-rallyeing ...

a very sad loss, more so because Jean Claude was the quintessential racer first, manager second in an increasingly marketing-led world.

He will be missed

Yes, one of my heroes too! Too strange he dies just during the Dakar... RIP Jean-Claude!
