Gas in Currie, NV?
 

I am doing some planning for an upcoming Nevada loop.

Does anybody know if there is gas available in Currie, Nevada? It looks like there may be a Goshute Mercantile that may or may not still be in business. How about a phone number??

I think the closest fuel to Currie will be either Ely (south, 75 miles) or Wells (north, 64 miles). The most recent photos of the mercantile show the gas pumps are gone. The sheriff would know for sure.

McGill Hwy 93 north of Ely, not sure on anything else.

I called the Sheriff and they told me the store and fuel station are closed now.

Bummer. :cry That is going to make for a long leg between fuel on my next trip!

You may want to look at my Statewide Motorized Trail System (SMTS) for Nevada. You can find it on GPSXchange.com

I have every lonley stand along gas source I have found on it. Some you need to call ahead and I have phone numbers for each.

I also have GPS tracks of dirt roads and trails between each gas. In Nevada you have to plan your trip gas to gas if you have 130-150 mi range Dual Sport bike.

I should have mentioned that the Sheriff told me there is gas available at Lages Station at the intersection of 93 and 93 alt. It is about 15 miles south of Currie.

I might have to route thru there.

There is supposed to be gas in Schellbourne too. Here is the info. I would call before expecting it to be there.

Just called lady in lages, closed permanently, she said so is shelbourne. Phone disconnected there.

Yes, I have been looking for gas in that area also for SMTS. Schellbourne closed years ago. McGill and Jiggs are all I have found.

I talked to the White Pine County Sheriffs Office today and did not find anything else in the area. They confirmed that gas is not available in Currie, Lages Junction, Schellbourne, or Cherry Creek. :cry All of them have gone under.

Are there any ranches in the area that might sell a couple gallons?

I found a number for the Jiggs Bar. The number is 775-744-411. I talked to a guy who is 90 years old. He said the bar is still open in the afternoons year around. I will have to call back to see if I can arrange some fuel. He told me he might not be around anymore in June so I better talk to someone else to arrange fuel in June. :rofl
