LED alternative light set-up for the Super Enduro
 

I decided to ditch my dual 8' HID set up and go with the new LED technololgy.
First off, I experimented with Sanjos model 60's. I was really impressed with with the lights, and at a 100$ each, a great value. A short time after purchasing Sanjos lights, Baja designs had a holiday sale on their products, so I decided to purchase their sqaudron light in a spot configuration, mounted in a KTM mask. I also purchased the new ONX light, also set up in the spot configuration.
I combined all of the lights to form a psuedo nav tower type of design. This was accomplished using Baja designs tecate mounts as a base. Plate aluminum was then used to form the structure holding the lights. The stock, super enduro speedo/instruments were retained and mounted within the light support apparatus. There is a space built to house a roadbook as well, but the roadbook itself will not be installed unless I am entered in a rally, so no pics of that component. I have also built in a space to house an additional onx light at somepoint in the future.

The Sanjo model 60 led's are set to run at 40% of their output when my low beams are on. The squadron and onx are off until my hi beam is selected, then the Sanjo lights become 100% and the Squadron and Onx are also lit up to full brightness. This is achieved using a Skene designs dimmer http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/IQ_170.shtml , this is a slick unit with lots of programming options.

I am really pleased with the amount of usable light that is achieved with this set-up. The illumination is difuse and puts a wall of daylight in front of the bike. The Nav tower creates a bit of a wind shelter. I dont mind the aesthetics as well, funtion over form. So its a work in progress, thought I would share what I have so far.

I wouldn't want to be the guy who forgets to dim his lights coming towards you and got the full flash! Sweet setup.

Any pictures of lights on?
I am running stock plus 2 squadrons but I believe mine is equivalent to a bic lighter at a Led Zeppelin concert compared to your setup

I suppose I could snap a few pics, but honestly, all that you will see in the photos will be a big , bright , single mass of light.

Pepetrueba, about your dual squadron set up,, try different combinations with the beam placement. I have my sqaudron up pretty high, which I believe helps throw the light farther downstream.The sqaudron light is every bit as bright as the onx if you ask me. The onx probably throws the beam a bit farther out. I played with many different blending combinations before finally determining the angles best suited to project a full, far reaching combination beam.
Case in point; the lovely, (and unknowing) CFO was actually roughed up during beta testing of this rig. She was signed on to be the crash test dummy. She gave the lights a good look see when I inquired about her impressions,,,, and then was stuck seing that bright light for about 10 minutes after I had flashed her. She was less than pleased.

Moral of the story, They really are stupid bright.

For safety sake, I am going to stick to a nighttime ban of high beam flash down wars. These lights can momentarily blind you when looking directly into the beam. I have been getting flashed to dim these lights during the afternoons brightest hours. Thats wild.

Led alternative
 

Thanks for the tip on mounting squadrons higher. presently i am using the black dog cycle works fork mount so i am limited on such height.
Just as your previous light setup, i also had the Soltek La Paz dual hid' on a 525 but two thing were annoying, glare from dust if you had a rider in front of you and the weight of the 8" lights.
I have not been behind eating dust with the LED's

Last question is who fabricated your side aluminum mounts and if there is some templates to follow?,
I like your simplicity and well executed installation without damaging original plastic speedometer shell which i believe will probably be a NLA item since bike is discontinued at such replacement parts will start drying up??

I tried to snap a few pics. In my opinion, the photos do not give a realistic representation of the actual illumination.
First pic is my stock Super Enduro light on high beam.

Next is the high beam , all lights ablaze. The sahuaro cactus closest to the camera is at 40 yrds, the middle cactus is 90 yrds away, and the cactus at the end of the lighting is 300 yrds away. The tree on the right side of the pic seems to have blocked the camara from picking up quite a bit of the area illuminated. It is now raining in the desert so no more pics tonight.

As far as a template goes, I suppose I could walk you through my process. Shoot me a pm if you are serious about making something similar. I am not so savy with cad drawings, I should have taken photos through the process to show the components as they were assembled....but I did not. Next time I need to take the tower apart I will document the process and share.
