Yamaha R1-Z

A few pics of a R1-Z, I stumbled across. Only 2,300 k/m on the clocks! They were only manufactured for a year '90-'91.
Where had it been hiding since 1990?

This bike would make me break my vow to never own a water pumper.

WANT!

Hooligan bike extraordinaire. You buying it or what?

SCQTT 02-01-2013 05:50 AM

I'd kill for that. Remeber when they came out. We never got them over here. Last of the two strokes (above 50cc) were the RZ350 in 84-85 (some places called them RD350LC)

Well we did get the KE100 through the mid 90's, it was grandfathered in since it was an old design.

anotherguy, unfortunately it was the 'what' instead of 'buying'

What you asking for it? Not selling.
What do you want to trade for it? Not trading.
What you gonna do with it? Ride the ass off it!

Same great motor as my TDR250.

I remember riding one in Japan. I also remember being a lil dissapointed at the power output. Other countries called the RZ350 " YPVS " as the RD350LC was sans powervalve ( Think Banshee engine )

Spotted this R1-Z out in the Boonies.

What a bike!

That guy must have been very pleased if the road was a little twisted, not to say if it was a mountain road... :evil

Hi Leo,
I am sure the owner of the R1-Z was left satisfied with his riding experience:

The Village:

The Valley:

The mountain passes:

The roads:

Yes, this country has a lot of twisted stuff, the roads being one of them.:D

In all countries the RD 350 LC (liquid cooled) was sold only 1981 and 82. It did not have YPVS.

YPVS was added and the only years for the RZ350 YPVS in the US (due to California emissions) was 1983 and 84.

Last year for the RZ350 YPVS in Canada was 1990 and in Brazil and Eruope I believe it was 1992.

I thought the US got the RZ350 in 1984 & 1985.

It could have been...
I'm old and trying to remember 30 years ago.:1drink

84 and 85 for the RZ350 in the US. There were 49 state and California models with minor differences. I think there were some '83s not in the USA.
The model number for the '84 and '85 is different. I used to have all the differences memorized but all I can remember now is the ignition module.

The LC had a monoshock (triangulated swing arm like in the '70s) suspension and no powervalve. It was not sold in the US.

The RZ350 was also called the LC ("elsie") in europe.

I've seen an R1-Z grey market imported into California. Someone parked it next to my grey market RZ500 at Laguna. it's a cute little bike.
