Heidenau K60 Scout Tire Pressure, 700GS

They were installed on Saturday and my first off road tire, they are on a 700GS.

I have my air pressure set at what it states in the manual, 32/35, and it feels OK on pavement, I've only ridden them 100 miles. I cant run them in the dirt until the weekend. I will be loading the bike for a trip this weekend and the specs increase to 35/41 with the added weight.

Should I run something different from what it says in the manual on the street? I am of course looking for maximum mileage from the tire and will commute on this. If I am not sure about something and cant find a good answer I usually stick to the manual.

They were dealer installed (they owed me a tire install) and pressure was way off what it says in the manual, much higher. Can somebody with experience chime in?

The answer is more than likely somewhere but tire and tire pressure threads are like a needle in a haystack! I found a couple but they were for different specs, and I am of course probably putting too much thought into this.

This can go somewhere else, what happened to the nuke function? Cant nuke a thread once started? Idiocy is left there for all to see once out there? Man, been doing goofy stuff all weekend.

You should be running them at OEM recommended pressure on the road and drop them to ~20psi off road if you want them to last

I don't think I would drop them for dirt use, being tubeless I think you should keep them at proper pressure to protect your cast wheels. just wondering if you could post a quick pic of your bike with the tires on ? definitely let me know how your offroad experience with the bike goes cause I was looking to downsize from my r1200 to the 700 and no dealer will let me test it offroad. I also have the k60 on my 1200 and love them and I keep them a little high on pressure just from what I read about them. 38 back 36 front. my dealer also had them set really high but I think they do that to seat them properly.

You are correct in using the pressure in the manual. +/- a couple of pounds makes little difference.

Lowering the pressure on the dirt does help some ...but the Heideneu has such hard (long lasting) rubber and stiff sidewalls it is not going to make a big difference.

I agree not sure of overall benefit if you are a hard charge the benefit vs risk to rim damage. Just make sure you raise it again on pavement.

I will post a pic a little later. Thanks for the input guys.

I got a set of K60's mounted Thursday and rode about 400 miles this weekend. Cold and rainy for the first half...sunny the second half. Street riding to speeds...well...high speeds at factory recommended pressure. No off road yet...give me a couple of days.

I've found that riding at the recommeded pressure on the road to be just fine - however after a bit of experimenting off road I drop the pressure to about 25 (mainly on gravel easy dirt roads) and it feels like it does make a good bit of difference.

good info so far can't wait for offroad detailed reports with the f700 and can wait to see some pics or videos, I think the k60s will make the700 look badass.
