which fracks to try and get (bundled with purchase)

Hi all...

So I'm getting close to a purchase here (might be 2013 demo - non water).

Am told that certain "bolt on" accessories may be able to be addeded into purchase
and included with monthly payment.

What would be your suggestions to GET vs to NOT WORRY ABOUT?

Yes... I will do some off road but not as much as I'd like.

Thanks

Assuming it'll come with heated grips and hand protectors I'd say just saddlebags, unless you want an aftermarket brand.

GS or GSA?????

If not a GSA consider engine guards.

Nothing...buy the bike..ride it..alot..then decide what YOU need..

Panniers is the only thing I'd sign up for..and not Varios...

Engine guard/crash bars would probably be the only thing I'd say needs to be done ASAP. Everything else decide on after you ride for a while.

This should go in the WTF (What the Frack!) thread, No?

Howdy Ecotox. These guys make the CG crowd look like choir boys. Slack os not cut, rather yanked with glee.

Good advice on the ride it and see first however. If my used R12GS purchase had not had Varios on it, I would have probably looked very hard at removable soft luggage like the Great Big Loop stuff. I may still. The inevitable tip overs simply trash most hard luggage and do almost nothing to the soft stuff. Their volume is similar and they are dirt simple to pack and can be scrunched down small when partially filled. If security is an issue, well, nothing is really secure.

HEY! thanks for the tip (re: loop bags -- they look neat! and worth a try - no harm in getting them, then, if i do not like, off load... no harm/foul).

Look for an e-mail in day or so re: deal... i'll be looking for thoughts (from you and a couple other guys i have on "retainer" - LOL!)

Of all the crap that I have bought for my GS, the Sargent seat and the $40 HID headlight upgrade are the two that I am most happy with.

I bought the BMW Adventure panniers for my regular GS with the bike (the deal I was offered was too good to pass up). As far as other farkles, in the order of preference and usefulness:

  1. Heated grips (unless you live in FL)
  2. GSA winglets
  3. Engine guards (the aftermarket ones are little cheaper)
  4. On board computer (I don't have this but I do wish I had the thermometer, don't care about the other info the computer provides)
  5. Better windshield (GSA is OK, the GS windshield sucks)
  6. Beak extension (just looks naked without it)
You are better off buying everything else aftermarket.

ANYBODY can add an entry to urbandictionary, thus you see lots of stupid stuff like that. I don't think it's a real use for the term, but then I'm not in the kind of social circles where I'd ever hear it anyway.
