My dad is a Suzuki GT-aholic
So this past summer, my dad has gotten back into bikes (I think I had some influence). He bought an XT200 from my friend when he upgraded to a WR250R. My dad's neighbor bought an old Yamaha DT enduro around the same time. They started riding quite a bit and then they decided to get into street bikes. His neighbor bought an RD350 and my dad picked up a pretty nice GT380. Since then, he had picked up a couple hundred dollar parts bikes. He did all his winter maintenance on the nice GT380 and now he was just messing around with the parts bikes and he got one running, so he's currently swapping the good engine into the nicer frame. Well, cool, he has a project now, but no... He call's me up and wants somebody to ride down to southern Ohio with him to pick up a GT550...sheesh, this means like 16 hours in the truck this Sunday. I can't believe my mom's eyes are still in her head with the amount she's been rolling them lately. ;) Anyway, here's a pic of his good one and I'll try to get some pics of the parts bikes to show the build up.

oh and here's his neighbor's RD:

Sounds like two guys having a lot of fun. I'd like to ride on comparable bikes with my mates :)

Sounds like dad is a smart guy. I wish there were some GTs to be had here, but not too likely.

Log every mile you can with your Pops. Looks like fun.

Don't you dare let him ride any new bikes.:lol3

If my Dad would get back on the two strokes, I'd be right there with him. Right now I'm teaching the wife to drive a Star 250. I think I'll get her on a smoker yet. :nod

One of these days i'm gonna dig out one of the H2's and remind myself why they're in storage.:lol3

Consider yourself lucky. Any time that you get to spend with your Dad is a treasure. You guys are gonna have a blast! :1drink

A 75 GT380 bought as a left over in 76 ,was my first bike, slow, heavy, grounded in corners lousy gas milage but boy was it smooth! I put 9K on mine in one year, you couldn't keep me off of it. I would love to find one but I never see them turn up around here.
Looks like your dad is having fun.

He rode my FZ6 and wanted one of those, but has since decided that he wanted a Gladius. Mom probably won't let that happen after this GT550 purchase...

GT's were fun. Like the GT550 the best. Nice photos!

Well, we had to postpone the trip today, due to a snowstorm that we would have been driving through. I was a little relieved. ;)

I did get to check out his new parts bike project, though. Here it is so far:

Today's plan was to clean up the pipes and reinstall them. He's waiting on the carbs that are being rebuilt and a set of carb boots before he fires it up.

Just for fun, here's another shot of the RD350 and it's little brother, the DT.

I will say one of the most fun and nicest street bikes I ever rode was a GT550. And of course, the GT750. I want either real bad. I bought a nice running GT380 in 1996 for a dollar and if I had been able to get a title, I would still have it. I sold it to a buddy for 700 three weeks later and it took him two years but he got a title and the next week, it got stolen. :roflBummer.
