Can't ride, tho, because neither of those things are happening to me :cry

I thought I was getting laid off 2 Fridays ago. Sadly, it wasn't true. :cry

Outdoor_Girl 04-01-2013 08:39 PM

I read that wrong as well. Sorry you're getting laid off but I hope you get laid on Friday as consolation!!

Sorry to hear it, Joe.

So, Day 1 of my new life of leisure, just a couple of hours of local single track. Beats working, until the paychecks stop coming in ...

Sorry if it was unexpected for you personally. That would present a very unfortunate even in a persons life. However, I see too many "seasonal" workers that PLAN on this and enjoy snowmobiling all winter as they collect from The Man.

Kind of like a part time job. If I knew I had a few weeks off due to "seasonal" issues, I would financially plan and have a great vacation also.

Yeah, I have no experience in either. Never been laid off and getting laid was too long ago to admit.

I was part of a 10% RIF in the engineering team from my old company. The company is still living with mistakes made 4 years ago by the old CEO. The new CEO is known for cutting headcount.

I was part of a RIF 2 months ago. First time in my 36 working years. I had big ideas about going riding more often, spending lots of quality time in Moab, summer trip to Alaska, ... then planned to switch career track to something quite different and more manual work (less software, more hardware).

Then I talked to some former co-workers from a decade ago. Been working with them since the day after the RIF non-stop, and now this week traveling for 2 weeks to the east coast for 2 certification trainings.

Enjoy your time off while you can and hope the checks resume in an acceptable time after you first have some fun and maybe renew your perspective, maybe try something different that you really like.

Maybe I will get some time this summer or fall to follow my own advice/wishes :-)

Just heard that one of my old Chrysler colleagues got the axe from his job at Tesla today. Sucks.

Day 2, and I took the 'Berg back out again. All a bit wet out there after the weekend of rain.

Sorry for the crappy video, will try to point it in the right direction next time. :huh

Sorry, I haven't been keeping you updated on the progress of the Great Unemployed ... I shall try to rectify that now.

Day Three, I mostly sat around in my underpants playing Xbox. I will spare you a picture. But I did pack up the bike ...
