A lot of people up here riding sleds and snowboarding
Temp was 45* when I left home 38* in the upper parking lot

I should have brought the better camera The snow blows the cheap one away

Gal was out boarding with her 6mo old Akita, I used to have a couple of them great dogs. Next year she is going to be ski-jouring with her

Need to bring the better camera this was supposed to be a great shot of Pioneer Peak

Going up thru Palmer roads are clear watch for sand/gravel :huh no matter where you go.water run-off causes black ice in the shade, no problem watch your speed.
I went up to Willow side of Hatchers today great day clear roads, but don't go that way

Saw a bunch of bikes mostly Harleys 5 out of 6 were ATGATT one Harley rider had ape hangers and a watch cap.

Saw one sport bike on Parks Hwy with a White helmet, full leathers, standing on his Freeken seat going north while I was going south he tossed me a thumbs up.
Crazy guy
I'll post some pictures in the morning

Great day :rofl

Be careful of sand and gravel, black ice watch speed you shouldn't have no problem going to Eklutna

Get it before the snow hits again

Picture of the road to Hatcher Pass taken from the front of the old Mother Load NU this is for you

Anyway after seeing how Hatcher Pas was doing with the spring thaw I decided to check out the Willow side. I knew I couldn't get that far up the road but decided life is an adventure so I left about 2:00 PM.

Roads are clear all the way to Willow and I would guess all the way to Fairbanks. We're supposed to get some snow the next couple of days but it won't last long

I can't get over what you see with your eyes is so hard to capture with a camera

Denali from Willow

Let the adventure begin

I went up the road to the parking lot by the access to Purchase Creek. The road started to become pretty well glaciated for the newer Alaskans its when the adjacent creek or river rise over the road level and freezes when it snows it doesn't make any difference but when the thaw comes its pretty bad.

I tried to push thru to get to the Last Chance Coffee Shop, but stopped just shy of making it (no cell coverage, to traffic on road)

Some of the following pictures are coming and going

Ham Shot

The parking by Purchase Creek access I drove in there got nervous ice was gouged up pretty good

I at first drove in the parking lot to get a picture of this bridge

Moving along

The way out, lot of runoff

Coming back to the Valley

Pioneer Peak From just before Houston going to Wasilla

Thats all I got for now

Great Day Great Ride

Nice photos !! And thanks for the road condition advise, I have never access Hatchers pass from the willow route, only thru Palmer.

Might have to try that way this season .

Stolen from Trails End's facebook page, meanwhile in Fairbanks:

I should have went out saturday instead of running errands. Now there's another fucking foot of snow. And Weather Underground is saying a low of -22 on Friday (accuweather is more optimistic at -10). I need a damn snow machine or a quad or something.

Better yet, I'm starting to think I should cancel my vacation at the end of the month since I was planning on going riding around the state on my new-to-me Nighthawk 750, but I don't think things will be cleared up enough by then... idea was to ride from Fairbank to Homer, over to Valdez and McCarthy, then back to Fairbanks.

Times are GMT -7.   It's 03:18 AM.
