Front wheel extremely tight fitting
 
So, reassembled my front end which is looking good, thanks to the previous inmates for help with that!

Got the rear wheel on fine, perfect etc. The only trouble I have is that the front wheel was extremely tight fitting, so much so that I had to spread the legs to get the disk though. I've just been out and measured the alignment using a not very scientific method and they are pretty much dead on, i.e. within 1mm between very top and very bottom and straight all the way down.

Is this normal? It looks like the axle when fitted will align the wheel centrally but I suppose to really check I'll need to fit the callipers again.

1983 R80 TIC btw.

loosen all and do the bouncy bouncy alignment routine tightening in stages from the top down.

If it wasn't tight when you took it out but it is now, you do need to ask yourself just what you changed.

Is there a chance you swapped the sliders left for right? The sliders have a relief for the rivets on the rotors.

Yeah, I the sliders are the right way round.

So the bouncy method entails installing everything and snagging the yoke bolts loosely then jus bouncing on the front to get it aligned! Perfect!

I think max runout for the forks is .1mm (point one of a millimetre)
Have you placed a piece of flat glass across the fork legs to check for twist? It's important!

Your front axle should slide into place very easily at all stages of re-assembly, particularly when tightening the fork brace bolts.

Surely there must be a worn out thread for fork alignment here somewhere? :deal
