New R1200GSW Incoming!

:clap

Putting money down on a 2013 R1200GSW on Tuesday at The Motorcycle Shop in Anchorage! Thunder Gray Metallic, fully loaded (even the fancy LED headlight). As far as I know, should be one of the first, if not the first fully loaded model in the state. Should be here before the end of the month!

Demo model will probably be rideable at the shop within the next couple of weeks for those that are on the fence!

Thanks! Now for some Touratech and Dainese Shopping... Haven't decided whether to go with the BMW Rallye or Dainese Stradon Jacket yet, but my Rallye 2 is well overdue for an upgrade.

Congratulations - you'll get many miles of smiles on that beast.

I saw some pretty sharp looking Kilimanjaros upstairs. Great jacket for the conditions here.

It's finally here! I got to take my new baby home today and finally got to play with all of the modes and settings. I've ridden a demo model that is pretty bare bones off and on, and I'm really liking the riding modes, ASC, etc.

Foklift man bringing her in!

Being BMW the front wheel cost extra so as a broke college student I decided to opt out. Should be fine without though, right?

Home in the garage. That LED is spiffy! I might have to get the LED Auxiliaries to compliment it...

Sorry to divert your "new-bike-thread"... Is that oem LED headlamp assembly available as retro-fit to the F8 ?

bug67 06-19-2013 03:52 PM

Congrats! :clap

It isn't retro-fittable, no. Someone might figure it out eventually, but the ECU and canbus will have an absolute fit over it.

Well, maybe I can paste one onto my KLR ?
The Kwaker has always been a little short on electrons, though it packs plenty of gasoline.

If you're looking for more lighting you're better off retrofitting a projector to your KLR housing (or any housing that will fit in the KLR fairing), and going with a bi-xenon HID setup. Same that they use in Porsche or any higher end automobile. Best light output without any glare.

And congrats Andrew! Post up some wheelie pics!

I just figured out what the 'W' stands for...
What kinda rubber comes on the new WATER Buffalo ?
Looks like Bridge-stonish ... and strongly asphalt biased

Those are Michelin Anakee 3's. They are a moderate dirt/pavement tire. Most new GS's don't come stock with knobby tires unless requested by the dealer. They've done pretty well so far, surprisingly sticky in the corners even with a perpendicular tread pattern.

Just like it has a fit over everything else.

Cast wheels are standard, spokes are extra. Both fronts are 19's.
