Newb to racing

Hey guys just got a few questions. First off let me state that I'm a newb to racing and riding in general. That being said I think it would be fun to do some sort of race here and there. Then he other night one of my friends mentioned wanting to do a XC race on his ATV (currently has the yamaha, but is planning on replacing it with the one KTM used to make). When he mentioned this, I thought it would be a great idea if we both entered a race at least once before he goes to Germany. That is where my questions lie. First of all, are there any races like this, where he can race his quad and I can race my bike? I understand we won't be in the same class, but if we could ride in the same event that would make for a fun weekend. Also, with no race experience I'm assuming we could both enter a novice class? I really think that even though I would still be learning, it would be a great experience. I would consider it a success if I just finish. If anyone could even just point me in the right direction to find more info it would be appreciated. We are stationed at FT Bliss which is in El Paso, TX. I know people talk about districts, but no clue where to find what district we are or anything else for that matter. I'm going to check the AMA site while I wait to see what you guys know.

Thanks for the link, but it takes me to the American Modelers Association listing of RC clubs. I do love R/C as well though so it is still helpful, but not exactly what I was hoping for.

Most of the hare scrambles in OK have quads and bike divisions, even some SxS races too. Depending on their format you might run on opposite days, but if you're doing a trailer or camping or whatever it makes for a fun weekend for sure.

edit: Otherwise, yes, you can both run but probably won't be running at the same time. Most of the Enduro's I've seen only run bikes.
