Deceptive business practice? You decide...

I have no direct affiliation with either company mentioned here, except that I have been a very satisfied customer of Dubbelju's on more than one occasion...

Deceptive business practice? [http://www.dubbelju.com/dubbelju_blo...ive-marketing]

I feel it is just wrong. Illegal? I don't know (and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night either).

Good to know, thanks.

Yep! Pretty unfreaking believable, you google Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals and what you get is their business name with a hot link to Eagle Rider's Reservation form.

Dubbelju has a fairly small advertising budget. This happened earlier in the season as well apparantly Google suffers from the same lack of integrity!

BOO HISS Eagle Rider, you should be ashamed!

Crashed Bad 10-23-2013 04:13 PM

This is pretty common for google ads. You pay to display what you want and choose your keywords. In this case the display ad and keywrods are a competitors business name.

schmo 10-23-2013 06:12 PM

That's messed up. Seems like there should be some legal action that could be taken, but for a small business, paying for legal representation and the time spent fighting something like this could be too much of a burden. Shame on Google and Eagle Rider.

x a gazillion

that is the example of SCUM.

I would like to see "Google" place the page http://www.dubbelju.com/dubbelju_blo...tive-marketing

as a top result of when you search on Eagle Rider.

in fact... I would like to see THIS THREAD work it's way to top results for when you search EAGLE RIDER.

and Review Eagle Rider

Eagle Rider Review

and anything related to Eagle Rider like yelp eagle rider :deal

Totally common... My competitors use my name and trademarks in their search terms. It's shit but legal. The more successful I am the more I drag them up with me.

They can't use your name on their ads though. Google will boot that when you complain... but you have to Police it. Yahoo, Google they all work the same. You gotta catch the scum and turn them in.

Gotta use the other unbiased search engines. Then again, if you pay google enough for advertising, why shouldn't your company come up first? Is there a law that google broke while operating its own site? Now the govt. tells you how a nd who pops up on the search site?

ontrip 10-26-2013 11:13 AM

Welcome to the Google age- Common business practice now, Try searching any product and you will see a competitor show up, thankfully most times you will see that it is a "paid ad"

The newest category is the "geo-grid targeting" ads where by a compancy will send an ad to your smart phone if you physically go near to a competitor they have identified.

QSrider 10-26-2013 11:17 AM

It's not happening to me right now when I google Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals... There is no Eagle Rider anything popping up...
Maybe Eagle Rider got banned from Google for a while... They would deserve it!
