Knoxville area, off road with bike bikes

I'm looking for people in the Knoxville TN area who like to ride big dual sport bikes off road and go on true dual sport rides. I ride a KTM 950 Adventure and I know some of the good riding areas and want to explore more. Any takers?

If you make it over to the Asheville area, look me up. I am somewhat prone to taking my Super Tenere in places that I might not ought to.

I will. Thank you. Currently looking for closer to home though.

Just a phone call away! Picked up a XR650L a few months ago along with a KTM 300. I've been riding every chance i get. Too bad the weather sucks now though. I'll PM you my number.

Wait til next week, go talk to Francois or Megan at Dual Sport Touring, and Mike at Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters. Try LtDan at GSM moto rentals?, but he's headed to TX soon.

Go to the Time Warp on Tuesday night. there are quite a few people there.

Lots of people around East TN. pick an area go ride and you'll meet people.

thanks machine builder. Yes Francoi and Megan and Lt Dan are great people. I don't know Mike but will look him up. The more the merrier and I'm still looking for more people in Knoxville who like to ride dirt and more difficult trails with bike bikes so anyone else please let me know if interested.
BTW, March Moto Madness is coming up and I'm hoping to connect with people there also.
Thx,

Just wanted to bump this up. Jason, a couple of his buds, and i rode a little over 200 miles today. Rode through citico, tellico, lots of snow/ice on the cherohalo skyway, and finished it off with a trip across the dragon. Great day of riding! Hope to do it again soon.

Yesterday was a great day of riding and I hope we can get more people to join us.

If you're interested in dual sporting out of the Knoxville area just let me know.

I recently bought a Suzuki DR650 and am in Knoxville-- but I'm a complete novice. I'll be in touch when I've got a lot more experience under my belt.

Brickit 02-10-2014 05:48 AM

I'm in ,usually over my head

I got my first dual sport when the weather got bad...I'm feeling novice also ,I've been on an old wing for years.
But this is what I got it for...

As soon as the weather warms up a little I'm sure we will all be itching to ride again. Last time i spoke with Jason we discussed exploring the windrock, briceville, beech grove area. I've been studying a map the last few days and cant wait to go exploring!

DragonNester 02-13-2014 01:33 PM

Unless you stay on the green trails (gravel roads), a big bike and Windrock are not a good mix...IMO. The easiest intermediate trails are Trails 2 and 22 or that's the way it was when I used to go there. I personally wouldn't take any bike bigger or heavier than a DRZ400 there. There's a lot of fun places to ride in the Cherokee National Forest.
