If anyone is interested in following and discussing the Dakar Rally, I'm posting the stage updates on my advrider thread, my website www.TheAdventureBegins.tv and Facebook.

After Xmas gift!

Thank you. I always follow at a distance and look at stage highlights. I look forward to seeing your information. I gather Cyril Despres has moved from KTM to Yamaha?, that the engine sizes might have changed, but nothing more than that. A great event to follow in January. I visited Salta 2 years ago, and see the route passes there twice, so already I've learned something interesting from your site.
Cheers.

Yes, I think that it will be interesting to watch how Despres does on his new ride. I believe that KTM has won the last 13 rallys, but with Despres riding a Yamaha and a Barreda riding a new Honda it should be a good battle.

Why is it us Americans can not get descent coverage of the Dakar? I mean it seems like every other stinking country in the world has tv broadcasting live video. I would love to get video of the race in real time and for the full length of the stages following the top riders. 5 minutes of official dakar video updates is not enough. Am I the only one who is frustrated with this problem? Since I'm on a rant could someone pleasssse tell me why we don't have any top american riders competing? I am not dissing Kurt Casseli and I wish he could be racing again. R.I.P.

I've been frustrated for years. First with the last 20+ years of piss-poor soccer coverage.
Now with the Dakar coverage. Who knows, in another 20 years they might
start covering what people want, not what the corporates want. But it probably won't start
until we have pure pay-per-view, not "blocks" of what they want us to watch.

The reason Americans don't get decent coverage of Dakar is that unfortunately, no one will watch it. 99% of Americans don't even know what the Dakar rally is. Of course if a network would provide some good coverage and actually promote it, they might get some viewers. In the meantime, what we're getting now is probably going to be it.
