Motorcycle Exchange (klr650)

Hello,

I am going to be doing a one week tour in California in May or June with a friend. Wondering if anyone wants to do an exchange where you borrow my 2009 klr650 (hard cases and tall windscreen and shinko street biased tires) in the coming months in exchange for the use of your motorcycle? Your bike does not need to be an adventure bike, a (non crotch rocket) motorcycle for a six foot rider with capacity for a little luggage is all we need. Our tour will be all on pavement starting on the Central Coast, central Valley or Bay area, depending on how the plans go. Not looking to exchange cash, just barter, bike for bike for 5-7 days (600-800 miles give or take) Let me know if you are interested.

My klr650 is on the Central Coast, lots of good riding around here.

So, you are doing a trip in California and you and your KLR are on the Central Coast?

Why not use your own bike? Or am I missing something here?

please don't forget the tires will be flat.............:lol3 and the good thing about this is the OP has a total of "2" post. Someone is going to jump all over this one.

This is crazy, wants to barter for bikes and he is probably no more than 200 miles away. I can't wait to see what the OP has to say next..........this will be good.............

Actually, no. The OP says the trip will begin on the Central Coast where his KLR is.

Maybe he/she just wants to ride a different bike for a while? You know; get a "little strange"...

Needs clarification.

I financed my dr650. Zero down, 117 a month. Tell your buddy it's cheaper to buy than borrow. Geez.

That clears it up, now that you said that.

OP will loan out his KLR in trade for someone letting he and his buddy borrow theirs.

If there is another person out there with a bike, and a bike-less friend, this is a way to have a pair of bikes available.

I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes...

no one lends their bikes out to strangers....geez

Assuming that you need one more bike than you currently have, here is how I solved that problem last August when my son came to visit from out of state.

I have two bikes and needed three so my other son could also ride with us. He had access to an XR650L, but it had sat for years, with fuel in the tank and carburetor. I worked on it for a few days, but couldn't get it running reliably.

So I bought another XR650L as a temporary bike, at a good price. My intention was to keep it for about six months, fix all minor issues, then either sell that one or my current one, depending on which one I liked better. However, somebody posted that they were looking for one for an upcoming Baja trip, so I sold it to him after two months (for a little more than I had bought it for). I figure that I had the use of that bike for two months for basically no cost, and it was mine while I had it, so no concern about damaging it.

Something to consider...

who wouldn't trade their klr if they could? :huh
