CDT Stops

What would you like in an ADV riders stop?

Hostel style accommodations/quality tent space?
Indoor parking?
Hot showers/hot tub?
Shop space and tools?
Skilled mechanic on call?
A fire place and a couch?
Go Pro (vid cam) editing and viewing capability?
Home theatre?
Taxi service to local watering hole?
Some decent basic food?
Catering to remote camp sites?
Local guides?
Wifi/charging stations?
Live music?
Small variety of "different" bikes to try out (dirt, sport tour, adventure)?
Links to other CDT stops?

What else? Think it would be worth paying for?

It's tough to add anything to that list. The secured parking is a big thing, as well as decently fast wifi, and a tool loaning service.

Maybe local riding info, maps, and/or tracks?

Build the hot tub and they will come :D

The gopro editing is kinda unrealistic, it takes hours and mucho computer HP. The ability to copy files off their SD cards onto another device and recharging capability is more inline with a travelers needs.

+1 to this

To edit vids is a daunting endeavor.

Hot tub is a good idea

Don't quit your day job if you plan to build one of these out here somewhere. You must be thinking of kind of a Mike's Sky Ranch in NM,CO, etc? There are very few CDT riders actually ,so it would be a long time between customers. In fact, you can't even get riders to agree where "the route" actually is! The CD is actually a geographical feature....not a "trail". And it runs all over the place on the South end. Where you really need it MOST is where you could build a rest area the least.... Wilderness Areas.

I'd say a hot shower and cold beer is all that I need.

falconspeed10 03-24-2014 12:22 PM

Just brain storming. How about general ADV or all cycle stops, just to broaden the discussion.

TUCKERS 04-08-2014 09:24 PM

I'm thinking you are over-thinking it.

Hot shower, cold beer. That's all we need. Everything else is gravy.

Maps, routes, hot tubs, whatever.....mostly we are independent types and take the gravy when it comes....usually we want to stop for one night, we are not looking for a resort.

If I'm close to a place that has hot water cold beer that's were I'm going.

Would you settle for a warm beer from a cowboy.... and a wash-up from a cattle tank? That is about all you would get on the NM portion of the ride and a lot of CO and WY also:D.You can get a hell of a "shower" if you go in September during the monsoons though......
